Zuby “Beast II”

I don’t think people realize what Zuby does to opponents. An absolute monster on the offensive glass, and then on defense, teams think the best way to beat a team that switches everything is to get one of their wings with a center on them.

a wing hasn’t beat Zuby off the dribble in like 2 months. Maybe that’s not 100% true but it certainly feels like it is.

The impact he has on both sides of the ball is unreal. AND for all the complaining about his FT shooting, he ends the game 7-11. You take that from your center EVERY TIME

His perimeter defense is beyond words. I can’t remember a single drive that he’s been beaten so bad that he couldn’t potentially alter the shot. Guys don’t even really challenge him anymore unless the lane is wide open.

About ten mInutes left in the 2nd he got switched onto Jones, knocked his dribble loose, forces him to give it up, and then runs the court for a dunk. He’s unbelievable

Very few bigs, if any, have the footwork and concentration to guard quick players on the perimeter like Zuby: example>

SJU must have hoarded them. I am a bit spoiled with Zuby, but the growth of Prey on the defensive end is impressive.

The kid has good feet and switches very well. Who would have thought a freshman from Europe, where defense is not a major factor, can clamp down on a future NBA player like Kam, and force him into a bad shot.

Get that, but Zuby does it playing iron man minutes.
Don't get me wrong one bit. Zuby is much better. But Prey's minutes last night -- both in the first and second half -- were huge in being able to maintain the defense against the P&R. He is so impressive out there from a footwork/defense/rebounding perspective, and it's a massive advantage to have that level of defense off the bench. Next year can be really really exciting.
