Zena Edosomwan, PF - HARVARD

Kid looks good. Nice touch from the outside. Reminded me of a more slender Yancy Gates.

More slender and shorter. Can't we find a 6'10 - 7'0 center instead of another blown up PF

As someone who was out in Vegas this past Summer and saw all the top teams. There aren't very many big guys in general. Let alone 6-10/7 Footers. The few guys like that are going to Duke. Kentucky. And UConn. Not saying we can't beat those schools for a guy like that it's just hard.

There are more bulky 6-8 PFs running around though like Ricardo and Zena. I'd love love to see us with. Slender 6-10 athlete. Trust me. They just don't really exist.

I've said the same thing here several times. There are maybe seven schools out there that if you're a fan of, you know you'll get a top center. Everyone else has to get lucky or fight over second-tier guys.

Norvel Pelle exists; he just doesn't think. (Sort of a Cartesian variation.)

He does exist. And does not think. However, he is just a handful of those kids that existed in the Class of 2011. All the others ended up at the elite schools. Marshall Plumlee to Duke for example. Also, Norvel was being recruited hard in the PAC12 and that's about it. Didn't get much National recruitment at the end of the day hence why we got him. He was a Tier 2 level guy. I also heard recently he's a lock to SDSU although will play AAU this spring.

On JJ they say he likes us but Harvard is his first choice, will be retaking the SATs ,he needs a certain score for Harvard.

Believe me, I want one too, and in the worst way. I've said several times I think that could really hamper our development down the line. But I think other posters are spot on when they say there's just so few of them, that you have to be elite, or get lucky.

We had one in Pelle, and it looks like we got in early with McCullough. Other than that, let's hope one of our recruits grows a few inches, like Moe did, or Lav can pull a rabbit out of his hat in the next few years.

Maybe we should have pushed harder for Blaise Mbargorba. He's like 7'1 and if you can believe it was 6/8 from 3-pt range in one game ts season for the Peddie school. We'll have to play against him at SMU in a few years. He seemed a finesse guy, but that size is just nice to have.

6 for 8? Really? I never remember hearing he was a shooter, but who know's. We could've been more aggressive, but you gotta think the locals/east coast teams all did their homework on a 7 footer in their backyard, right? Maybe SMU just struck the right cord with him, but it tells me there were a lot of coaches in our area who didn't like what they saw.

Maybe I'm wrong. But you're right, that size and bounciness would be nice. It's just so hard these days to find a guy with size, who can also get up the court and doesn't have stone hands. We ask a lot from big men.

I trust Lavin and his judgement. Especially when it comes to Bigs. If there is an available big out there and we aren't going for them taking into consideration that there are so few Bigs then I trust they weren't good enough. I do like that we're going to get in the mix for Young in CA. He's good. Would be solid for us in our Coference. But even he is just a strong 6-9 kid. But good nonetheless.

My last thought on Zena. We can talk all we want about wanting a slender 7 footer. Well, we probably aren't getting one and Zena is probably the top Available big man in the Country. I've seen him several times in the last 12 months and he is the real deal. The best part is, he's 6-7/6-8, and plays harder than anyone on the court every time out. If you're that big and strong and play that hard you're going to get things done and stuff the stat sheet. It doesn't hurt that he's strong, really athletic, and also fairly skilled in the post. If we really have a shot at him Winston and Him should be our top guys with a bigtime shooter our 3rd priority.

He's only 6'7 or 6'8?

I heard he's grown to almost 6'9"... But I haven't seen him in person.

I saw him briefly in Mid December. Didn't look much bigger than I remembered him from the Summer where I do remember him being a legitimate 6-7 at best. I do remember the knock on him in Vegas this past summer was that he was only 6-7. But as I said he didn't look much bigger than that in December. Perhaps he's grown in the last 2 months, I haven't the slightest clue.

I just messaged with a Scout for ESPN That I met last Spring and he told me as far as he knows Zena doesn't have an official offer from us. So I don't know what's going on.

This kid looks like the closest thing to Gathers-hope we offer soon and he accepts.

Scout don't know sheit.. He certainly does have an offer from us.
