This thread is just terrible as it shows all of the naysayers that the staff has an excellent back-up plan for their primary targets and that just can't be.
Ricardo Gathers verballed to Bayor and our program collapsed. He was the only power forward out there who could strengthen our inside game going forward and now we have to discuss suitable possible replacements, this makes just no sense.
Wait until we find out about plan C then Illwill, John, Bobre and a host of others will be jumping out their windows.

The staff has a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C.
just because we are not privy to same does not mean the sky is falling and will not be in good shape come May 15th, 2012.

There are always great players out there some are not developed .or overlooked Finding them and recruiting is a skill.
Which our coach has those skills

Yancy Gates without the strength and inside game. Yancy dominated inside in the high school game. There is no comparison. I just hope we are not bringing in Norm level talent or the poundings will continue into the next decade. Let's hope some of our original targets are still gettable.

Are you nuts? This kid had offers from UCLA, Texas, Washington, USC, and lots of other schools. He's not top 25 like Gates was, but is a rapidly rising. Norm level player? There isn't a Norm-level player on this team and Lavin's Selectivity is the reason we don't have 6 marginal guys signed already. We've been on Edosomwan for a while now and while not as "original" of a target as Gathers or Jakarr, but a high level recruit nonetheless. If anything this staff has shown us is that they can evaluate talent. Phil Greene wasn't highly rated but is playing real well in big east play and looks to be a good player over next few years.

Exactly, MCN. Just more silly and uneducated postings from the rabble-rousers. This is a kid who has offers from some solid teams. As, been mentioned earlier.... He's growing in skill and height.

So it doesnt matter if we are mentioned, it's obviously not good enough for you...you want to be getting "more love" from these 17 year old kids or gosh darnit they aren't gonna come here...
 
 If he wants to be a doctor he might be better off going th Harvard. If he wants to play professional BB he ll definately be better off at SJU. The BE is a much better BB experience then the Ivy league , especially for a 4 star recruit. I guarantee if he gets great grades at SJU and plays BB their he ll have plenty of elite graduate schools to choose from. Gift also had a 3.8 GPA.

ummm, my point is that even when we are being mentioned you still put a negative pessimistic view on the situation...like i said, that's just in some peoples dna...they're programmed to look at the negative in anything. so even if zena was/is mentioned in an article, twitter post or whatever, you will find a reason to think it isn't good enough just like your post on the other thread...capisce?

We are heavily involved with Zena and from what I have heard at the top of the food chain with the exception of Harvard which has a different appeal. You really need a blogger like Zagoria or a scout article to tell you that? Do people here really need to be spoon fed by mass media to believe something that tons of people are telling you is true? Press release: "the sky is blue".

 Schools can't talk about a recruit until they sign a LOI. Therefore, if you hear us mentioned with a kid, or that we've offered, it has to come from the kid or his people. If the kid has zero interest and lets the coach know that, you won't hear anything at all.
 
 I'm very into the HS bball scene out here in CA as well as the JC scene and I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but I have never heard Zena and St. Johns in the same sentence. And I'm pretty plugged into the scene out here. I've heard for awhile it's between USC and Harvard but UCLA and Texas are in the mix. I've heard this from everyone since November. But who knows. If we can get in there and steal him it be a great get. I think he's the best HS big in CA behind Grant Jarrett.
