Who are the other good candidates? I read the other thread and I don't see a lot of good options. Gambling on an up and comer, I don't see working out. And it would just seem like limping in once again. While I am firmly behind Pitino, there are other very good candidates out there as well. In the end, just make a good hire and let’s resurrect this f*cking program because that is what we all want in the end.
When was last time sju gambled on a proven (at their level) up and comer?Who are the other good candidates? I read the other thread and I don't see a lot of good options. Gambling on an up and comer, I don't see working out. And it would just seem like limping in once again.
Fraschilla. When was last time sju gambled on a proven (at their level) up and comer?
Luigi Carnesecca the third...When was last time sju gambled on a proven (at their level) up and comer?
I get it. I believe there is a big gap between Pitino and any of the other candidates.Who are the other good candidates? I read the other thread and I don't see a lot of good options. Gambling on an up and comer, I don't see working out. And it would just seem like limping in once again.
Georgetown fans don’t need to travel, there’s a ton of alumni in NYC working in finance, law. I have been to many a MSG game when the chants of Hoya Saxa drowned out everything else. Not lately, I’ll grant you.Do Gtown fans travel? My recollection from attending a number of games in DC was that GTown’a fan base was nearly as apathetic as ours. I don’t recall them traveling well at all. Guess we’ll see tonight.
I also don’t recall Providence’s fan base traveling particularly well, but maybe that’s changed as they’ve become more successful.
And at least for a year or two, it seemed like a good gamble right?Fraschilla.
Right! The fastball analogy made my eyebrow raise immediately lolIt also sounds like Zach often reads this forum as there were a few things regularly mentioned here used in the piece. He also stole my oft-used "fastball" analogy, lol.
I’m all for ripping the media. Most are hacks. Hell in some ways Zach is a hack.
But with all the ribs on Zach reading the forum. Well no shit. If you’re writing a piece you should do research. That being said Stevie Wonder can see the same things that people happen to post here. It’s not like we’re all geniuses unearthing something that nobody else can see.
I guess the proverbial patting on the back whenever Zach comes out with a hit piece is a bit much to me. I’m happy there is still a beat writer and a NY paper that ‘covers’ us.
Disclaimer I’ve never met Zach and never spoken a word to him in person or online.
being totally serious I know someone ( a member here ) who saw him at a game and was standing behind him and this person swears he was reading redmen.com at one point ( this was a few years ago )Zach is engaged and involved with several st john’s twitter chats. If he is listening to fans it is from over there
Clearly. And at least for a year or two, it seemed like a good gamble right?
This results directly in the lack of young fans.Actually incredible when you think no NCAA win in 23 years
It still is!When I was a kid being Met, Knicks and Jet fan, ST John’s basketball was my successful team. Sad
Gambling when you are a consistent loser is for fools. Also the definition of insanity at this point. I think the situation will be extra challenging for a younger coach because of the internal politics and the state of the program. It is not just about being good at in game coaching or recruiting. We need a man with a plan and someone one who can effectively wade through so much BS and not be sucked into it. A more mature coach will maybe be better equipped to deal with it.When was last time sju gambled on a proven (at their level) up and comer?
