Love this deal.
Chisholm will play either second or third.Traded for Cody Poteet. Cubs sent 5M to the Yanks along with Bellinger. Good trade. Allegedly, the Yankees told Bellinger that he will play center field, so they still need to address first and second/third, with Dominguez likely playing LF.
Yes, which is why I listed it as second/third. They have to fill one of the positions.Chisholm will play either second or third.
wow....... good one ! Should have been obvious ! ha haAfter being Sotomized yanks have had very good offseason
Let’s evaluate that after next season. After being Sotomized yanks have had very good offseason
Goldschmidt strikes out a lot so he'd fit right in.Yankees trade Jose Trevino to the Reds for reliever Fernando Cruz and backup catcher Alex Jackson. Cruz is a very late bloomer with swing and miss stuff (good fastball, really good splitter) who should help in the middle innings. Jackson is a depth/organizational catcher - not on the 40 man, and I wouldn't expect him on the major league roster. Looks like JC Escarra will be the backup to Wells this year.
Still need to figure out first, LF, and either second/third. Dominguez will probably play LF. I'd say that there is a fair chance that Oswald Peraza is the second baseman with Chisholm staying at third. That leaves first. There's speculation that they are looking at Paul Goldschmidt. For a one year deal plus an option, that may not be a bad way to go, and allows them to work Ben Rice in to see if he can cut it at the major league level.
Never hurts to have another multiple gold glove winner at first (I'm thinking of Rizzo) and he's shown consistent pop for a long time, just not in love with all the strikeouts but good pickup overall. This is going to make the team very right-handed this year, but he is coming relatively cheap.
Yankees signing Paul Goldschmidt on one-year, $12.5 million contract to fill first base void
The former National League MVP agreed to a one-year, $12.5 million deal with the Yankees on Saturday, according to The Post’s Jon Heyman.nypost.com
I should have put this in the earlier post, but I'd rather have Goldschmit for one year, than Alonso for 4 or 5.Never hurts to have another multiple gold glove winner at first (I'm thinking of Rizzo) and he's shown consistent pop for a long time, just not in love with all the strikeouts but good pickup overall.
