Yankees - 2018

I looked at sunday;s lineup. it looked more like Scranton than the Bronx.
then that lineup gets 16 hits.
going into Friday's game, the yanks had statistically the 2nd worse bullpen in baseball.
the bullpen was to be their strength.
ugly leaving men in scoring position in extra innings.

Food for thought from DN

But seriously, for all of Stanton's struggles, the Yankees have still managed to average 5.5 runs in their first 10 games, which ranks fourth in baseball. This despite Gary Sanchez getting off to a 2-for-32 start and the early injuries to Greg Bird and Aaron Hicks, who is slated to play his first minor-league rehab game for Triple-A Scranton on Tuesday, and could be back by this weekend in Detroit.

Plus, Stanton started off his NL MVP campaign in 2017 slashing .226/.300/.415 over his first 14 games. He proceeded to hit four homers in his next three games before going into a 3-for-34 funk. Again, this was a year in which he changed his stance during the season and finished with 59 homers and 132 RBI. He's streaky. He's trying to figure things out. By comparison, J.D. Martinez is hitting .226 with a homer and four RBIs for Boston.

This thread is about the Yanks, so it doesn't include my self imposed ban until may 30th. lol

There's still 152 left, so not worrying like some. I still say it would be nice to win this series at Fenway to let them know: "We'll be in the race all year long with you guys for 1st place in the east."

Here's why I laugh when people talk about how big a series in April is: In 2009, the Yankees lost their first eight games to the Red Sox and trailed by five games in late-June. They won the AL East by eight games.

As a Mets fan who doesn't hate the Yanks, you can't just homer your way to the WS anymore. It's not the late 90's. The pitching is much better overall and you have no name guys throwing 96. Yanks need pitching to win consistently. Can't rely on 3-4 HR's every night.

5.5 games out now.
Time for the Yanks to start playing like we belong in the same sentence as boston

Go atleast 7-2 on this homestand, I mean hell boston is 13-2, and we cant go atleast 7-2 on the home stand??? combined with fridays win that would be 8 wins in last 10.
That's a start.

Need help from the hot Angel, and cool off those bastards from boston. Takes atleast 2 of 3.

I was starting to worry about the pen with the starters not even going 5 innings, but with the 2 snowout in Detroit, and Sev doing his thing, the pen is a none issue now.

The team will come together, there is an amazing amount of talent on it. The weather has been awful. Watch our pitchers as the weather gets warmer.

Yes, it's early, but a split at home against a minor league team is not encouraging.

well yesterday was a bad day. taxes due, boston wins, Toronto takes 2, yanks lose.
tanaka tanks. only andujar shows up.
its only april. its only april. its only april, but boston's lineup & star starters could mean wild card yanks. ugh.

yesterday - boston/Toronto both win.

its april. its april. its april. but yanks /Toronto april series will go a long way in the wild card race outcome.
IMVHO. april series do matter.

Since many days 60 years ago spent walking to Ebbets Field I have been an anti-Yankee fan. The one season I relented (there were no alternatives at the time) I got to watch Roger Maris being booed as he broke Babe Ruth's HR record. Welcome to the Bronx, Mr. Stanton.

Yeah, it's only April, but it's getting late, early. 6 1/2 behind boston who is 15-2 and didn't they lose their opening? So, 15 win in 16 games is unreal, plus they go to a hot Anaheim team, and won the first 2 games very easily.
Only question now is, will they match the 84 Detroit Tigers? 35-5, but I think they only won 105, you'd think a team like that win 120 games easily.
I was hoping 7-2 on the homestand but they would of had to sweep Fla.

And Stanton, 2 guys on in the 1st and hits into a dp, bases loaded in the 3rd and pops up behind 3rd.
2 more K's, yeah he might start hitting over the summer, but right now he looks like crap.
Lastly, thank god Judge won't be in the HR derby. 1st half 329, 30 HRs, 2nd half he K'd to much.
The kid is looking like the same guy from last years first half. No derby this year = no hurt shoulder, so no reason not to continue it in the 2nd half.
Can we take 3 of 4 from Toronto?

Toronto coming in red hot, too. Concerned about the lack of fundamentals on this team. Defense has been horrible. Not sure Boone is the guy to light a fire under this team. Didn't like the Walker signing. He has proved to be shot.

I know that it's basketball off season but we have a BASEBALL section on this forum. I'm going to start soccer threads here soon!
