Y2K/Insiders debate

In other words my guess is his camp just like to play the recruiting game and probably y2 was not immune from the same thing from his sources.
What part of that is making up / tweeting about a zoom that didn't happen? Regardless if that's being fed to you by someone "connected" anyone who values "reporting" or whatever you want to constitute that as these days, gets information sourced and confirmed multiple times.

In today's day when everyone just wants to be first instead of right on top of gaining internet cool points, it's just irresponsible to make things up like he did. And I simply say this as an observer who has spoken to the staff, parents, coaches in our echo system lately about these "throw S at the wall hoping it sticks" type of tweets the last few weeks.

Relax Dave I am not an apologist for any of them especially this guy y2 who I don't even know.

My larger point was I don't think for a second he is making up information. I think he has a legit source that is feeding him stuff.

Is it responsible to post it immediately without perhaps waiting to get more confirmation probably not.

BTW-Wasn't it you who criticized Zags among others for saying that Omoruyi was NOT scheduled to visit SJU despite other internet reports saying he was and that he planned on having Zoom meetings with many suitors. Seems it was he who chose not to jump on the obvious Omoruyi to SJU bandwagon. How did that turn out?

Zags was literally accused of making stuff up and not having sources. Trust me these guys have sources sometimes the sources are wrong and sometimes they get played (that is on them).

Zagoria track record precedes him. Sources get stuff wrong, everything is super fluid, we can all acknowledge that. Never been the case more than this off-season. The Cliff Omoruyi situation was well documented. You know enough people I'm sure that can corroborate that there were plenty of conversation between SJU and his camp before it turned into and dissolved an absolute circus.

Before I start an food fight let me clarify I don't criticize anyone here like Dave or Paultz or 79 or anyone else for reporting what they hear.

I believe they are all acting in good faith and have reliable people around SJU. But let's not act like, me included, don't report on things that turn out not to happen.

Did Zags report that Anderson was coming back? He did. Was he wrong? Dead wrong. But does anyone honestly think he was not told that by someone who he thinks at the time would know something like that? Do you think he was told that by someone selling pens on the corner of Utopia Parkway? In the end he got it wrong and he has to own that.

Did Rothstein get it wrong when reported Watkins was visiting Michigan and SJU last week? Then 48 hours later he reports he is going to back to FSU. Do you think Watkins really changed his mind that quickly?

Obviously you want it get it right. But most of us are mad less about right or wrong and more about it not happening in SJU's favor regardless of whether the information was right or wrong.

I am not getting into this with you Dave.

But the fact is the visits that initially were reported on the internet were wrong, did not happen. Zags shot them down and he was right.

Of course conversation happened that never was in question. Nobody said otherwise or that SJU was a player for his services.

I think the situation with whoever this Y2 person is, has a few factors.

1. He's a faceless, nameless person on twitter. At least the other guys you mentioned have a profession in business.
2. He's come out of no where and people hang on to his every word and treat it as gospel

It's the good and bad of social media. He gives fodder to talk about, and gets people excited / riled up. It is what it is. Hopefully at the end of the day, there is more good news than bad for us to talk about for our team.

I don’t see people hanging onto every word from Y2 like gospel. Most of us know the deal with this stuff.

You folks are unfair. Most likely he was mislead by his source. Insider tells him it’s happening. But it doesn’t happen. He posts what he believes to be true. Be grateful for his willingness to share info. He is not a guarantor of everything he is told and posts. Want guys with info to stay silent until there is complete certitude? In that case, you will know only when the press release goes out. And if the standard is “waiting until info is sourced and confirmed multiple times”, as your post suggests, you will never get any info. Not even the Washington Post adheres to that standard anymore!😎

Agree not realistic and when your source is super inside ( not saying y2 is I have no clue ) but the most inside of sources are wrong at times this year. Not saying about the zoom thing but other stuff with any school. Coaches won’t know 100% on stuff now. 79 said as much with some things this offseason

Ok this guy is completely full of sh*t

As a non-insider who enjoys talking about insiders & "scoops" my advice to Y2 would be:
1) Never use the word "lock" unless the thing is literally happening within the day
2) Never put specific dates and times out there, even if someone tells you a specific date/time

No reason to publicly box yourself in on things that can completely change & are out of the school's control.
