Xavier, Wed. Jan. 6, 9pm, FS1 & 570 AM

Looking forward to the next public flogging! :S It is a late start 9pm so I know many won't show up but I will be there locked into the stocks, shirtless and ready for my whupping. Just hope some of the nice dance team or cheer squad members nurse my wounds. ;)

The guys who hold the cheerleaders up are waiting for you. One of them told me he's ready to give you 100 spanks for every TD Alabama gives up to Clemson, so prepare to not be able to sit for a week.

Um, because there's another football team in this town, and we are not all Jets fans? Maybe?

Creighton, Xavier and Butler games all being played at Carnesecca. Is this some kind of anti-Midwest thing?

They dont have the alumni presence in NY or historical rivalries with us to warrant a game at MSG.

I think someone somewhere in charge of deciding this thought these games would not draw as much attendees because these school are far away and there are not a huge number of their alumni in the NYC area. It might have been MSG declining to host those games. I disagree with that logic, in reality its the match up that creates the draw and Xavier and Butler being ranked now and preseason should have warranted playing at MSG.

We have played our biggest Big East home games of the season in consecutive years against Xavier and both times the crowd was the worst of the season.

Last year's Xavier game between two very competitive teams at MSG only drew 6,600 to MSG. Last year's Butler game only drew 5,600 to CA, albeit during winter break. I'm not sure you could have predicted the rapid rise of this year's X and Butler teams but you can't question the fact that you've never met an alum of either of these programs. ;)

It is a shame. Out of curiosity, I looked at the attendance those teams drew last year when they played Georgetown at the Verizon Center. Xavier only drew 8,500 but Creighton drew over 11,000 and Butler drew over 14,000. I've got to believe there are more alumni from those schools in NYC than in Washington.

Hopefully, SJU will be in a position in the not-too-distant future where we can consistently draw 10k at MSG of our own fans.

Sima will gain much experience going up against their strong and skilled forwards. Yakwe too hopefully. Hopefully they can handle Jalen Reynolds better than Jakarr Sampson did. Lol.

Edmond Sumner. Most Xavier folks think they keep him out for Xavier's next 2 games which are SJU and DePaul and get him back for the Marquette game which is a week from Saturday. Nothing official though.

To be fair, 5,600 is a sellout at CA. The place was sold out for that one a week in advance.

I agree that CA was a sellout. Butler was in a lot of people preseason top 25 and should have been planned to be at MSG. Also last years attendance is really not indicative because the winter was so brutal. I suspect it was MSG and not SJU that made the decision. I can't see SJU turning down MSG as a home game and actually getting a percentage of beer sales as to no beer sales revenue at CA.
