Frankly, I am not convinced Wilcher is the pure point guard some people think, just my opinion. In any event I think he will prove to be a contributing guard next year and may surprise a few games this year.

In transfer mania era, extra COVID year, etc., the degree of difficulty for true freshmen playing against 22 or 23 year olds is a steep climb.

I think the game is just moving a little too fast for him right now. Coach said he’s struggling in practice. That may be a good thing. If he can take the adversity and work through it, it will really benefit him in the long run.

You got this SW.

Totally agree with this. Jenkins is improving as a facilitator, he can get to the rim if things break down, and he's the closest thing we have a to a PG on the roster. And we need to keep giving Wilcher quality minutes when Jenkins is out. Neither Alleyne or Dingle is a PG, so let's stop pretending they are.

That said, I love Alleyne and hope he keeps getting major minutes.
Jenkins is a wing that can pass. We don’t have a single pure PG on the roster. When he starts playing like he understands this, the hate will stop.

Alleyne is clearly not a PG but he shares the ball literally every single possession. Dingle is a much better scorer than Jenkins, so I strongly prefer him taking 15 shots a game. While he’s not as good of a passer as Jenkins, he shared the ball a lot more.

Jenkins can’t help himself. He took 10 shots in just 22 minutes yesterday. Soriano took just 13 in 35 minutes and was playing out of his mind as usual.

Jenkins took (and made to be fair) 3 of the first 5 shots of the game after entering shooting 38% from the field and 27% from 3. That’s crazy to me. We are 3-0 when Jenkins plays between 16-23 minutes.

Jenkins failed to even attempt a single FT for the 7th game this season last night. If he wasn’t fouled on a loose ball near midcourt in the bonus last game, that would mark the 4th straight game he failed to get to the FT line. That’s one of the most bizarre stats in all of college basketball. Both teams were in the bonus early too and he just cannot draw contact to save his life.

I didn't get to watch the game, but from reading this thread and looking at the box score it appears we played very well defensively and shared the ball offensively. I flew up to NY yesterday for the holidays and will watch this game when I get back home. Not sure if I will get to watch any while I am here, but they are being recorded at home. Nice to start on a positive against a quality team with a good coach!

If didn’t get in foul trouble would have taken 15 or 16 shots.
He leads team in FGA only averaging 11 ppg
Guy with 2nd most attempts averaging 18
That is just wrong

Jenkins getting us out the gate to a fast start with 3 buckets and an assist 1st 3 minutes the key to the victory. So happy to have this difference maker on the floor. Dingle shot 4 for 12 0 assists 1 rebound in 24 mins. Team leader 5 for 10 5 assists, several highlight reel quality, 2 rebounds in 22 minutes. Certain posters using a snorkel just to breathe because the sh*t they are shoveling now covers their airways.

Just watching the game again and the two things you notice right away is that Alleyne will be more important than I first thought and surprisingly Traore will continue to have minutes. I think Pitino is trying to get more defense and Traore does some little things that he likes.

The live look ins to Pitino’s huddle are must see TV. He is a no bullshit Coach despite the public persona. I like it. No I love it.

He is not point guard
He is playing there which is not his position but doesn’t seem to want to play like a point guard.
No one saying he stinks, just a ball hog

Play within your abilities…that’s all I ever ask from a player. Taylor is the prime example of doing that on this team and Jenkins is the prime example of not doing it.

Soriano should get 20 shots before Jenkins got 10. Even a Soriano miss is not a bad play.

Just wanted to reiterate again how important and impressive it was that we pushed the lead from 8 at halftime to 14-18 until late burst over 20. But the real impressive thing to me was we never let the lead drop under 10 to give xavier that real sense of hope they could comeback.

Some of your criticisms are fair but come on. Those first three shots were an open elbow J off a screen, a WIDE open three off an offensive rebound and a layup off a backdoor cut. Was he supposed to pass on those because of his shooting percentage? All three were in the flow of the game, that's all you can ask for.

To my recollection he forced two shots yesterday and everything you (and I, and others) have been asking him to do he did noticeably better than in past games. If you're gonna ride him- justifiably- when he sucks you have to give him some credit when he plays better. And he played better.

The criticism of Jenkins is wearing thin . In my opinion …. When Pitino takes exception to anything Jenkins does , I’ll sign on . Don’t hold your breaths .

Other comments , I think playing Alleyne as much as possible is the way to go . To me , he has skills some of the other players don’t .
In fact , at his size, defensive skills , shooting ability would make him a better NBA prospect than some others . He will definitely play pro ball somewhere next season .

You could see the frustration on the X men's faces as well as coach Miller.

I didn’t have a problem with any of those three shots. I just knew what that meant for the rest of the game. Luckily he was limited to 22 minutes or he would have been 15-18 shots.

Like most players Daniss is what he is. I think he looks for his shot early too much. I think he'll be fine, but I want him to be better as the year goes on in getting the team involved and making the extra pass. Can't hurt the rest of the players to be more involved on the offensive end either. But if he's doing what coach is telling him to do then this is what it'll be. Good game. On to Yukon.

Which is weird that Pitino asking/telling/ignoring him trying to do things in the BE that he didn’t do at Iona.

Pitino won’t go after someone like Jenkins publicly like he will with Soriano or Dingle. That alone should be telling.

Out of the top 8 scorers on Iona last year, Jenkins had the lowest FG% yet he had 76 more shots than #2 (Clayton shooting 43% from 3) and 127 more shots than the #3 (Nelly Junior Joseph shooting 55% from the field).

I believe Rick knows Jenkins is not a pure point guard but , has asked him to be one this season . That’s a tremendous amount of trust and respect between a player and his Coach .

Jenkins is going to play Pro ball somewhere next year and Pitino will help him .

It’s just amusing to me all the Heat at Jenkins this year , knowing that Pitino will never criticize Daniss nor , listen to any of the adverse comments passed in here .

By the way, without looking it up , remember all the flak and criticism directed toward Posh last year ? Now that he’s at Butler , he’s being lauded here as John Stockton the 2nd . And , how foolish for RP to not retain Posh .

Posh choose , of his own will , to opt out of our Program . That’s the bottom line .

Jenkins is here , Posh is not ..
