@Xavier, Tue., Jan. 7 , 6:30p, FS-1

I’m hoping for a breakout game from Sim. I like his stroke. Good rotation, nice arc and one of th few guys taking the foul line jumper. I still agree with Rick that he is one of the best shooters. Make me look good tonite.

With the ball in the post he is far from a stiff. But the lack of space he takes up for such a big kid is maddening!
The lack of big-man-ness is half of it. The other half is that he is completely oblivious to the fact that when he puts the ball on the floor in the paint, or holds it at his waist and pivots, someone else is coming to take it away from him who isn't the man between him and the basket.

I love the length and the athleticism for his size, and he has some touch around the basket and on his shot. But for the love of God play like you're 7 feet tall. Your skills are good for a 7 footer. For a 6'2" guard, they kind of suck. Be the former, not the latter.

Xavier is due for some negative 3 point regression on offense and we’re due for a little beneficial 3 point regression on defense. Hope the stars align on that tonight and it’s our opponent that is clanking shots

There was a possession in the Delaware game I believe where Vince caught it on the block and then took about 20 minutes to get into his move and Pitino yelled at him to just catch it and go into his move right away. He’s successfully done that a couple times since but still has a long way to go

Standing next to them, I agree, his height does make him look awesome. Even standing on the court it does, but when tipoff occurs, not so much.

He is a huge project and if he sees major minutes next year it means one of three things with two of them being bad:

1. We lost at least two out of Zuby, Vince or Reuben and either didn’t replace them or replaced them with l
projects

2. Our big man rotation has been decimated by injuries

3. Maker has made such tremendous strides in his overall game in one year, the likes that have never been seen here before and probably will never be again.

As for tonight,

Just win!!!
You are Makern Marillac mad.

Offense isn’t his problem. It’s defense…he moves like a newborn baby deer on ice.

Starting, per Zach: "St. John's starters: Ejiofor, Smith, Scott, Richmond and Luis."

Glover: "Jaiden Glover is working out and in uniform. But not shooting right handed. Has a wrap on right wrist. Unlikely he plays."

I bet that while hopeful, 95 % of the board expects a loss tomorrow at Xavier but if people were to express this they would be labeled, negative, hoping the team will lose etc. etc.

Heck I’m hoping like hell they win this game but given Xavier’s circumstances, an away game and the way this team is playing lately, there’s a pretty small window for success here.
I expect an easy win
