Poster of the year ( although the post might have been in december ) is whoever wrote that the ref's hate Mullin because I'm absolutely convinced there is some conspiracy there. I dont think I've ever been angrier at officials as this year

I think the whole team talks to the refs too much. Ponds is always begging for a call. Chris is always complaining. I think the refs at this point do go out of their way to make a call against St. John's based on the constant complaining for the past 2 years. I do not know how you turn that around, because you can see by the calls we do not get the benefit of the doubt

Had little confidence we would win (free throws, etc.) and started to mostly watch Macura as much as possible. A contest started to emerge in my loss addled brain... "Which player in St. John's history would have gone up for a rebound in a way most likely to yield the most severe concussion for Macura, and not get called for a foul?"

I go back to Tony Jackson time so I would include Willie Hall high on my list but there are many others, Ron Ron and the Lamonts, and Mel, and Justin Brownlee, et al.

We must never again go in to a season without the reserves able to be enforcers if you mess with our top skill players.

Mel Davis would have ended Macura after the first cheap shot. Cecil Rellford too. Grady Reynolds would have been arrested for what he would do to Macura. He would do something nasty to Macura just for wearing the long sleeves.

Ahmed with a double double tonight. For all those who can’t wsit for him to leave :(.

Redmannorth, Ahmed's lack of basketball IQ and his complete selfishness as player at certain times during games negates the production that he is giving this team. Early in the first half when we got off to a good start there was sequence I believe when he forced a drive, missed a layup, clanked a bad 3 pt shot and committed a foul away from the ball as he was running back on defense. That sequence along with his other two bad fouls killed our momentum in the first half. If we have a lead at the half or are tied maybe we win the games at the end with an extra 6 or 7 points in the first half. He does something akin to this every game. Yes , I can't wait for him to leave. Next year put Clark at the 3 with Brooks at the 4 and we will be much better off.

All Big East pre season honorable mention. The guy can play - and annoy.

Even with his usual allotment of missed layups, offensive fouls and missed free throws I thought Ahmed played reasonably well. But count me in as one of the people who have not enjoyed Ahmed experience. Looking forward to him graduating. No hard feelings just do not like his game.

The most memorable show of aggressiveness standing up for the team was all 170 lbs. of Kevin Williams grabbing Patrick Ewing by the front of his jersey in MSG. Rallied the entire SJU team, coaches and sold out arena.

How many of these games will we win, if any? I'll say we win 4.

Remaining Games
19-3 Duke
20-1 Villanova
13-8 Marquette
9-12 DePaul
13-8 Marquette
16-5 Seton Hall
15-7 Butler
14-7 Providence

As a matter of course, when SJU is notified that Pat Driscoll is assigned to one of their games, they should notify the Big East as soon as possible in response (no matter how far in advance) that they will be playing the game under protest. Then as soon as the game ends drop the full game tape in a package and send it to the conference Commissioner’s Office, without commentary, as the tape will typically broadly reflect why the game was played under protest.

Wish that was more of a joke, but in addition to being generally awful at officiating college basketball games, Driscoll has been directly involved in hurting SJU’s chances of beating the Nos. 1 and 6 teams in the country, at home, with calls that suggest he doesn't have the foggiest idea what he's doing out there. Driscoll should probably be ashamed of his performance in those two games but judging by his seemingly arrogant outward demeanor he seems to think he’s doing a pretty good job. Laughable lack of professional accountability from Driscoll individually, whoever is in charge of supervising his officiating, and frankly the conference for continuing to use him as an official.

Refs sucked. Check.
SJU 4-1/2 point underdog. Check.
SJU lost by 5. Check.

Coincidence? Is something rotten in Denmark?
Frustrated. Check.

I noticed that moment in the first half where he said something to Mullin and Mullin looked down and was thinking WTF did he just say to him ? I thought maybe he was mocking his blindung white sneakers but if it was anything other than that it was fcuking ridiculous that moron.

Thanks Knight!
For all the clamor, ups and (mainly) "downs" this year
it seems to me the kids are playing hard! And up to their respective abilities...
I can't ask for more. Can you?
And as their Coach - imperfect and inexperienced as he is - has repeatedly stated, this losing experience will prepare them for Ws later on...

I personally do not care if we have no more wins as long as the current roster remains relatively in tact, the players continue to play hard and the kids coming actually arrive!

In all of our heart of hearts (Hamlet) - way beyond the frustration, b s, critiques on this site - (coaches, players, fans) we are winners and plan to do just that
even if - as is happening - it's taking a bit more time.

I appreciate all that I get to read and reflect upon with these posts - a few of which I actually agree with lol :D

Not sure why but Lappas growing on me. Used to find him pretty annoying but lately I nod my head at some of the stuff he says and gets props for calling out Macura for being annoying. His voice still reminds me of that guy that played Kelly Leak's Dad in the 2nd Bad News Bears.

Ha Ha! Thanks for the shout out! Glad you are a fan!;)

This summary was about as informative as Chris Mullin's post game interview. I like the reference to Pat Driscoll having J.P.'s thing in his mouth. Ironically, it's the way most of us picture you, just you are in a bent over position telling us how things could be worse than 0-11. You see just like your blog, apathy has set in. We are donating tickets to a game against the #6 team in the country and there are no takers. First time in memory that Carnesecca Mausoleum has not been sold out against a nationally ranked team. Fans are now attending games hoping to be present for a win....any win, so we don't break another school record for most losses in a season.

Love the line "The fact is that things look worse than they are." No, my boon Mulligan shill, that is not a fact but a pornographic fantasy you cut and pasted from your drivel on Johnny Jungle.

Here's another fun fact for you Dr. Fun, Lavin’s last year was his 5th year and not " the year he finally managed to make the tournament without Norm’s players". Norm’s players were grandparents by then all playing in Europe. Something none of Mullin’s players will do except for Shamorie Ponds.

Glad I inspired you to write again but I must give you a C for effort as I see your heart was not really into saying what the right side of your brain was telling you. Finally who is this guy Brown? Or is it Browne?

I watched it a couple of times, it looked like Mullin definitely pulled his feet back.

Last night was not the first time he criticized our porous three point defense. Have to agree with his comment at the end of the game - why wasn't the ball in Ponds' hand with 18 seconds to go. Please tell me that wasn't the play Mullin set up to have Simon handle the ball and to pass to Owens in the low post. First of all Owens doesn't score with his back to the basket. In fact I don't think he scored last night. So much for daddy wanting him to get more touches.
