I actually wonder what the plan for Prey is here longer term. Does he want to stay in college in the US and complete a degree? Only asking because I believe he was already playing professionally overseas and could likely go back to that anytime if he desired.
According to the press in Spain he was only going to play 1 season with us, but who knows?

Wally was also very supportive of us last year after the acreee job by the Selection Committee. After UVA lost by 20 in the First Four he said what a travesty it was that we weren’t selected and everyone had to watch that unwatchable game.
None of the big schools recruited Walley, IIRC. Playing in the Suffolk County public league scared a lot of teams off (not great competition). So, to critizie us for that (as some on here were doing, not you Mike) is revisionist history, IMO.

He only average 8 ppg as a freshman at Miami (OH). So, it took time for him to develop, even at the MAC level

Wally played at Cold Spring Harbor HS in Nassau County

One of the most underrated parts of our defense- it's practically impossible to switch us into a mismatch. Unless you get like Deivon switched onto Kalkbrenner or something, everyone else can guard 1-5. That has to give other teams nightmares.
It reminds me of our '98-'99 and '99-2000 teams, respectively. I recall Coach K stating (paraphrased), "St. Johns is unique as they can switch and not be in any mismatches" or something of that nature.

Look it up they are in Nassau County The town is split between Suffolk and Nassau but the high school is part of Nassau county.
The CSH village website says they are in Suffolk. There is no Town of CSH, they are part of Huntington Town. The HS is also in Suffolk, one elementary school in the district is in Nassau. Call the HS to verify it, I did.

you guys are both right

CSH is in Suffolk county and it's HS is in Suffolk County ( they play in Nassau thoug because of the close proximity to the Nassau schools

Thinking about this win more….

We lose this game Every time the past 20 years… hell- I was “ok” losing it down 16 with 16 to go… X playing well, we’re due for an “off” night… ranking was nice, let’s rebound next week…

This group man… fun times

Yup. With Smith back I see Prey, Vince & Glover as our 7th, 8th and 9th men unless and until Brady returns. We know Glover can score if he gets minutes and I believe Prey will start to give us 5 or 6 points a game if he continues to play 15+ minutes like he did last night.
Most of our Big East brethren only play 8 or 9 guys and only get more than 5ppg from 5 or 6. Providence is an exception in that they play 10 guys but their talent is not especially good. SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 schools are different as they have so much more NIL to spread around.

It seems very doubtful that Brady will return this year due to the Abdominal strain injury .
Pitino has implied his own doubts .
It’s a tough blow but ,, Brady hasn’t been playing since early December .
His outside shooting , while off in the brief time he played was thought to be a part of our offense this year ..
Tough break

Let me summarize the Xavier game.

Wally loves St Johns
Wally played in Nassau county
Wally played in Suffolk county
None of the big schools recruited Wally
Wally was upset last year when we failed to an invite

I’m sure this post is incomplete. Feel free to add to it.
Wallys Dad loved SJU!

No news yet on his Mom.

Right near the border, though.

Both public leagues at about the same level, usually (Nassau actually maybe a bit worse, usually).
Depends on the Conference. There have been some pretty decent D1 players out of Suffolk recently from the bigger school conferences.

Wally played in the smaller school class.
