I'd love to understand the economics of us going to MSG. Clearly tickets are being given away, discounted, etc. I know we pay something for rent. What's the break-even point? Are we the ones who can dictate what we do at MSG with tickets? Compared to other events, does MSG make enough money to be happy with us? 14-15k seems like a wildly high number.

MSG wants the building open as much as possible, they don’t make money when it’s dark. St. John’s has to guarantee a certain amount (it was posted on this Board in I believe the old MSG thread) and pay if they fall short along with other fees.

Any revenue for gear, etc for SJU?

Literally no one has called this a definite win.
Uhhh, posters stating that we will win short handed and how others will step up implies a win to me. Hoping they are right but Wilcher will have to reverse his Big East performances, RJ will have to give us 25 plus, Kadary will need a big game as well and Scott will have to hit a good portion of his threes. Not feeling good about this one, Finally Zuby can not get fouls against Freemantle or the game may be decided early.

Yes.

True story. Before one of the games this year at CA, I stopped by the Bookstore on campus. I saw a tip that I liked and was going to buy it until I saw the price. There was a worker next to me and I realized she was taking off the price tag stuck on those tops to revealing the Bookstore price. She informed me that these tips had originally gone to MSG and those were their prices. It was like a $40 difference in price with MSG being higher.

I’ve looked at the St. John’s merchandise on sale at MSG, and the price difference in what they charge and what the Bookstore charges is I believe at least $15 more at MSG on a basic t-shirt.

I believe the break even point was somewhere around 10k, but that is paid tickets. Like tonight and many other games, free and heavily discounted tickets are given out to first responders, youth sport teams and many others to help boost attendance numbers.
