Xavier Game

6 1/2 point favorites.
Surprised.
thought it was light ?

I was hoping for a smackdown but with Jordan family stuff could be closer game I guess

Me too. But encouraging after all those numbers that gave us little chance to win the game early in the season. Vegas likes us at home right now.

I was guessing he thought the line would be a little lower, 6 1/2 is a little higher than it could have been. It actually opened at 6 but I was thinking 4-5.

We can't quantify how much of a must-win this game is.

To put it in perspective we were 2-5 about a month ago and I mentioned that we were only 3.5 games out of 3rd place albeit with a ton of teams ahead of us. This past weekend we could've taken sole possession of 3rd with a win. Instead we are back down to 6th!!

Massive fixture tomorrow night. A win and we are right up there again near what i believe to be the coveted 3rd position. Add to that our ~ 90% chance of beating DePaul and its reasonable to say a win tomorrow will land us at 10-7. I'm nervous just thinking about it even 24 hours away.

Head Coach Steve Lavin

On Rysheed Jordan:

"He's in Philadelphia today with his family for the viewing and will return to New York tonight. I'll get together with Rysheed and approach the situation in an appropriate manner based on how he is navigating through this emotional minefield. It's difficult to speculate how a person is going to respond to losing someone they are so close to."

On Chris Obekpa:

"His ankle appears to be healing at a good rate so we're hoping to get him closer to full strength. He looked good in practice today. I wouldn't say he's at full strength, but he's at about 85 percent. His progress is encouraging."

Junior Guard Phil Greene IV

On the importance of tomorrow’s game:

"I think every game from here on out is a must-win game. We need to give it all we got because the season is on the line so that’s how we’re going to play.”

On Rysheed Jordan:

"We talked to him and told him that we’re here for him. We’re like a family, and we look at each other like brothers so we’re going to be right behind him. The basketball court is where you can clear your mind of things like this. I think he’ll be ready to play tomorrow.”

On the loss to then-No. 9/11 Villanova:

"You just have to bounce back. You can’t dwell on the loss. It lingered a little because it was a significant win that we could’ve had, but we got through it today and shifted all of our focus to Xavier tomorrow.”

Junior Guard D’Angelo Harrison

On Rysheed Jordan:

"I told him that we’re all here for him and if there is anything to do for him that we got him. He told me he’ll be alright and that he’ll be back soon.

On the final play against Villanova:

"I probably watched it about 90 times. I would do the exact same thing again. I trust my teammates and Phil was wide open so I would do it again. I have faith in my teammates.”

On tomorrow’s game against Xavier:

"We just loss and they beat us before. We don’t have a winning streak right now. We’re going to have plenty of motivation to play this game.”

There's obviously no comparison between the two players but that last play where D'Lo passed to PG reminds me of LeBron James. LeBron always made the right basketball play late in the game by passing it to an open teammate but they failed to convert. LeBron was always seen as someone who lacked the clutch gene because of that. Now he doesn't rely on others and has changed that view by hitting some big shots. I think D'Lo needs to do the same like he did against Creighton. Take that big shot and and come up clutch.

On that note, I hope we get a big win at home tomorrow after a tough loss. Most important game of the season!

I wonder what our attendance will be like. It's a Tuesday night but at least it's 7 pm and not 9. I'm hoping for at least 8 or 9 thousand.

I'll be there with a +1(I think we are sitting directly behind Paultzman). I expect a pretty decent crowd tomorrow. The recently news and hot streak should bring out the more casual fans.

You've attended more games over the years buying those seats than whoever actually owns the seats :)
