Wisconsin game

Very little good to take out of this game; no sense of team on either end of the court. We have all the athleticism in the world; we don't have much in the way of basketball players. Still insist on playing D with our hands and lose balnace at the simplest of fakes. Still have NO shooters to space the floor.

Find me a team with less collective basketball IQ. You'd be hard pressed.

The team showed promise. But it was more of natural talents rather than smarts.

It's glorified AAU ball at this point.

They'll put up some wins with the cupcake OOC schedule.

But in those games where we play against heady teams, we stand no chance whatsoever.
 
I said it before and I’ll say it again, I think this will our toughest matchup until the NCAAs. For a couple of reasons:

1) Wisconsin is absolutely killer with these threes and their discipline. We probably won’t see a team shoot as well as them all year long.
2) Coach will have figured out his lineups very soon. The double point-guard line-up is a waste. We wasted possessions and points just on that. Jordan has to be the starting point, he can simply penetrate/create; Branch is not as good as him at that. Jordan has to get the preponderance of the point-guard minutes. I really hope coach doesn’t mess around. Jordan has certain elite skills. Get him in the game.
3) I think (I really hope) Coach will learn his lesson and kill off this zone defense. We don’t execute it well. Just go with man to man. I’m really disappointed the coaches even dared Wisconsin with their zone defense. That was a huge mistake. This game will light a fire under the team to play better D.
4) Sanchez was virtually eliminated from this game except for about 3 or 4 plays because of foul trouble. You can see why he’s a pretty darn good player. Even the announcers themselves said that the NBA scouts are interested in this guy. He can play. Very versatile.

Despite us losing, I think our team is going to be pretty good this year.

As a side note: Announcers on TV were good.

I know you meant it in jest but at least he wants to shoot. Most of our guys pass the ball around like its a stolen good.

Announcers made the same point re the press. You are absolutely correct.
 
We had 7 games to figure out a starting lineup.

It was clear that the 3 guard lineup wasn't effective because Branch struggles off the ball.

He was out there experimenting with the lineups. Either play Gift or sit him. Either play Max or sit him. We know Phil's spot is etched in stone so that's not a question.

Less talented?
I don't know that we'll see a team this good all season.
They can shoot, rebound and defend.
I was very impressed with Wisconsin.

With all due respect, JSJ, Many of DLO'S points came after the outcome was decided.. I thought he missed a lot of shots when the game was still being contested.. And, his man D IS AWFUL.

Yet, everyone will look at his stats and say WOW.. Lots of individual stats for Sampson, Harrison but, a loss is still a loss.. Wisconsin plays like a 5 man unit. Us? Well, we don't.

Disappointing, considering everyone says we are the most talented team.. If that's the case why aren't games like this in the Win Column.

Was Bernie Fine responsible for the syracuse zone at all ? maybe we should get him as a special assistant. just keep him out of the locker room
