What Won This Game For Us

I missed the first half.
How did Amar score his FGs?

The one he scored off the pass in the lane he kinda just threw up and it went in on an unintentional (I think) bank.

Although he gave us some very important serviceable minutes down low last night, I think his future's at the 3.. and by his junior year will be a serious asset.

That was not unintentional. That was something a Euro player would do.

:) I'll accept that's possible, Moose, but it sure didn't look that way to me.

Years ago I was lucky enough to work at UCLA, and I had keys to Pauley. I used to go in, roll a big basket of curtains into the gym and sit in it while I watched Wooden coach Walton, Wilkes, Meyers, et al. They would always spend a lot of time practicing bank shots.. about 15 ft and in, left and right of the basket (never straight on).. over and over again. Kind of a lost art...

Bibby had a great bank shot. The geometry of a bank shot makes it an easier shot, and I think Wooden would coach it on that basis

Generally, one does not intentionally bank a shot from straight away. If he was at an angle to the rim, I might buy that it was intended.

As we used to say when someone banked on in from straightaway or close (or even from the corner when you graze the backboard), "Hey, you have to call that shot!"
