What happened to Simon

I am kind of miffed at the season he's having, seems to have lost all his confidence.

Keep him for off the bench depth next year, no way is he a starter.
Misses chip shot, cant shoot, not a nba player for sure.

I think he has to decide (with coaches) what type of shots should be part of his repertoire and which shots are not.

He can be a valuable player. Our program is certainly in no position to toss Simon aside.

10-15ft is it for him. He can't hit bunnies nor the 3pnter, so mid range is it.
Why do you think he left Arizona? Miller realized this early on!
With all due respect I think Miller was busy giving DeAndre Ayton thousands of dollars as opposed to worrying about his own roster at the time

There was a reason Simon left Zona, just wasn’t the guard they hoped he would be. He basically is one of those great athletes, not really an instinctive basketball player like his coach. His stroke & form have always been a problem & handle is sub par.

Marillac was right noting he was best utilized playing along baseline & curling for short jumpers. Unfortunately he does not embrace his limitations and tends to get wild, ignoring time and situation too often.

He does have value on defense, stealing ball, blocking shots and rebounding. I think he is struggling this season because Heron and Figgy have eclipsed him offensively & he presses in diminished role. Not knocking a great teammate and person apparently, just being realistic about what he brings to table. Like Johnny Fan, I would not get hyperbolic & dismiss him completely. Hope he returns.

Simon is the poster boy for showing how hard it is for a player with no shooting touch to improve his touch. Even with Mullin and Richmond working with him for years, shooting the basketball is not an easy skill to develop or improve.
However Simon's other skill sets make him a valuable asset. He can do just about everything else on a basketball court well. Must be very frustrating. He has to be on the court with at least three other offensive threats and play within his shooting limitations.

I hope he return for bench depth, I don't think he'll start next year.
Figgy will start, Heron should return, Steer should start, maybe Williams blows up during practice before the season begins and mack starts. Simon just isn't a starter.

What impressed me most about Simon last season was that he had these limitations but played within them and put up amazing numbers. This season his overall numbers are still impressive but his decision making and confidence are way down. He is not playing that controlled game that amazing athletic players normally lack but he had last season. In my opinion he was by far the most important player on the team last season. This season he does a lot of good things but the lack of finishing is a killer and hesitating every time he gets the ball outside of 10 feet is counter productive to his style of play.

Agree with all the above posts, just sucks because last years version make's us a much better team!

A case of forcing the game and not letting the game come to him.

Simon is a good athlete and good defender, we should be happy we have him.
I believe the staff's philosophy, which they pitch to recruits, is that as long as they do the job on defense they will have freedom on offense. While this may be painful at times, it's important that potential recruits believe they will be given a chance to showcase their game on both ends of the floor. Hopefully this increases our future talent level.

Go Redmen
He is the worst player on this team and should be on the bench.
Perhaps the worst starter, but who on the bench is better?

Lack of depth. The loss is a loss. We just don’t have the quality horses of a Duke. By this point we should have a legit 7 players.

Anyone clamoring for Simon to be on the bench might as well just say "I hope he transfers without penalty for his last season," because they are essentially the same thing. There are a ton of Cali schools that will let him start at guard.

Not sure where he fits in next season with Steere on board, but I think Simon should be our starting center for rest of year and staff should tell him not to venture beyond 8 feet in the half court game.

He can defend, rebound and shoot from mid range
He can't play the point or shoot 3's
He seems to be a good guy and a good teammate
If he plays within his abilities, he should play starter minutes

How many pnts does he blow a game missing bunny, 8?
Yeah he could be out starting center since we dont have a center to begin with.
I say next year it's bench or good bye.

Counter me if you want but that's how i feel.

I'm not going to counter how you feel. But I think we need him next season. Unfortunately for him and the team, we need him at PF. And he's not going to go for that.

Keita will never give us anything. And if you notice, people who've seen practice tell us that they are impressed with Wright, but there's never a peep about Caraher. The staff somehow can't find any real minutes for Roberts or Earlington. Unless Precious comes aboard, I'm not sure who starts over Simon.

Starters right now are Mack, Wright, Figgy, Steere, and ? So in my mind that ? needs to be Simon.
