Welcome to St. John's, Oziyah Sellers!

Noted that one of the things Rick loves about Sellers is "he has great size". Assuming we sign Ian that will give us 10 players including the 6 returnees all of whom were at least semi rotation players toward the end of the year and all of whom I believe Rick wants back. I'd say sign Lee or the frosh PG and a strong guy who can play the 4 or 5, rebound and defend with any scoring a plus. Beyond 12 guys who you think might play, it can get counterproductive imho. I can see lots of times when CRP would be comfortable playing 3 or 4 of Sellers, Sanon, Jackson, Sim & whoever we sign to play point. Do believe we need the extra strong forward to match up against bigger teams and also as insurance as Bryce is coming off a significant injury and hasn't played a whole lot since.

Just my two cents. I also agree with those not ready to write off Sim. It's clear that Rick has faith in him and undoubtedly wants him to play some at both 1 and 2. Don't discount the value of two years in the system. If it was all determined by how many stars or highest ranked portal signings the pundits would have been closer to right when they picked Kansas #1 preseason; fit matters a lot.

Money quotes from Rubin as well:

“In any conversation, coach Pitino is pretty much the greatest coach of all-time – I wanted to play for him,” Sellers told Newsday in a phone interview. “I want to go out the way I want to go out: I want to win a national championship.”

“Playing for him was a big part of this [decision],” he added. “And then hearing his plan for me? I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of.”
He had me at “I want to win a National Championship”.

I think I might die if that happens. This was unthinkable just two years ago.

“New York is the biggest media market in the world,” Karim Sellers, Oziyah’s father, told ZAGSBLOG. “Pitino is the greatest coach in college basketball and it’s a big stage.“Oziyah is a lot like New Yorkers — gritty, hard-working and has a huge chip on his shoulders. He’s one of the hardest-working college basketball players.”

Love the quotes about working hard. Similar to what Sanon said after he committed. If these two great shooters give the effort on defense and also share the ball more than they did last year, we will be really good.

Great pickup. Welcome Sellers. Lots of top level positional size on this team with most of the guards coming in around 6'5 assuming Jackson joins too. Can matchup with any backcourt nationally in this area.

Let's get a floor general to run the show and put pressure on opposing defenses. Sim is better without being the main ball handler. He can absolutely do it but he's never looked fully comfortable in that role. Let him cut, slash, and finish. As well as step back and stroke from deep.
