Welcome to St. John's, Oziyah Sellers!

Aaron Scott shot .408 and .370 from three his last two seasons at North Texas and .293 last season at SJU. It's not the 1970's anymore and the current bloated ACC is basically the AAC with Duke (who Stanford played once). It will be great if Sellers can still hit threes when someone closes out on him (I've seen ACC "defenses") but it's a real risk, especially if he can't defend, but maybe he can?

Have to trust the staff here, time always tells.

Would be nice to see the mainstream sites report conference and non conference numbers.

Our defensive style will likely steal some % points from Sellers, but he is about as efficient with his movement as it gets. Very clean looking offensive skill set. He just has to understand his game better than Scott did.

Sellers has deep range and is not just a spot up shooter. He is a good athlete that takes it to the basket and is great in transition. He was the second scoring option on Stanford. He should have just as many, if not more, open looks since we will have much better talent around him.

Sellers made 78 Free Throws last year. For comparison to some of our guys.

Kadary made 59
Deivon made 43
Scott made 34
Sim made 28

So the guy we are getting to "be our shooter", made more free throws combined than Deivon and Scott this past year.

We could have used him in the Bahamas against Baylor and really at the end of all our close games as we were lucky to win a bunch of them with our shaky free throw shooting.

Huge asset having a senior guard who can make free throws at the end of games.

The ACC this past year, relative to the rest of college basketball, is still better than the AAC was the year Scott was there.

Again, relative to the rest of the college game during those years. The SEC made pretty much every other conference look bad this year.

I don’t think he’s trash, but I think he is being overrated compared to guys who played here with better players around them.

Normal for April when we get a guy.

Hope he is fantastic for SJU!

IDRAFT, I loved Sim and this is not meant as a comparison between the two but I am very high on Sellers. He is not just a shooter, is very athletic and can take the ball to the hoop which is something Scott, who was a favorite of mine, rarely.
As far as ACC, it's nothing like it was ten years ago but is more than just Duke. They had 3 teams finish in the final top 25 which is two more than we did - Louisville & Clemson both very solid teams.
To be honest I didn't watch Sellers last year so going by stats and what others, including CRP, have to say about him but also love the fact that he gets to the line and makes his foul shots.

What a stat. Wow.

Obviously he can get to the basket to create all these FT opportunities
