Welcome Kadary Richmond!

I think we all hope that KR will be the $ 1 million dollar player Pitino thinks he is .

I and other fans will hold him to a very high standard next season
I’d rather Kadary hold himself to a high standard and plays that way. If so, most of us will be happy (there are some here on this Board that I am convinced will never be happy and prefer to be miserable).

Agreed, but unfortunately NIL has become the new standard on which people will judge a players production.

When you look at the money being thrown around, you don't think Richmond is a million-dollar player?

I would argue that his worth was no less than $850,000-$900,000 last season, and that was with what I believe to be less talented teammates from top to bottom.

I think getting him for a million was a bargain.

You may be the exception.
In this case, I’m use to it.

Sure, but if you're the highest paid player on the team, I (and probably most people) expect greater production

Salary does not come into play for me and I could care less what a player makes. It has nothing to do with my fandom. It’s the same in my profession. I never worried or concerned myself with what someone else makes whether or not they were in the same or similar position.

In sports, you might be the highest paid player on the team but it does not mean you are the best. You might be the highest paid due to years of service, arbitration or you are at the end of a multi year contract and, are at the end of your career. But in a sport like baseball, your best player might be someone who is limited by the amount he/she can make due to arbitration, and in other sports, contract salary caps based on years of service, etc.

Fair, but, if you base it on a baseball players 1st free agent contract, and the beginning of it, then if you are the highest paid player you are expected to produce. That's what these kids are getting now, but every year. They will not age out to become a bad deal. Barring injury, in todays college basketball landscape, for most people there will be an expectation of production

Pre NIL they were also judged and expected to produce but based on their rankings. I recall people on here judging Elijah Ingram based on his McD AA status and ranking. Fans also are quick to dismiss a player based on a few games and never think they can improve. I use how some feel Dunlap
Is not and won’t be a good shooter and their doubt he can get better.

Rankings will now be replaced by NIL.
