Welcome John McGriff

Welcome to the family Mr. McGriff.

=11

I know its a mix tape which shows highlights but breaking the ankles of two different players on the same play sequence is impressive (and pretty damn funny).

A gritty NY kid with a good handle? Works for me. Glad to have him.

Wrong Huntington I guess:blush: Baltimore is close enough to make the point.

Neither[/quote]

Borman's or TJ's, or you can't say?

Yup. Still gritty. Lol.

I like what I'm hearing:
- NYC Kid
- Tough
- Great Handle

If he can distribute the ball, find the open man and play some defense, we will be competitive. However, I still say you have to give Greg Williams a shot at PG too.

Just curious to know why was he only rated 3 stars? Is it his shooting? Size?

Could be argued that Baltimore is grittier than NYC nowadays. Hell, it’s certainly grittier than Huntington, LI. ;)

Probably his size. As others have said, he would likely have been rated 4* at least if a few inches taller.
Here's hoping he simply outplays his matchups, shines for St. John's, and creates his legacy.

He wasn't being recruited previously by Anderson and wasn't by Matt. Just an available kid they pounced on.

Best wishes for success - and as you stated - “growth” on and off the court!
We are excited about your commitment and excited about a brand new Head Coach, staff and season ahead!

A handful of y'all are looking for trouble, if you want Williams manning the point. I don't see anything about Williams that tells me he can run the PG position.

By the way, McGriff isn't a NYC kid.

Great job coach. Working hard and getting results.

Welcome aboard Kid!!! I like his playing style. Looks like he will find the open man and better yet create to get guys open.

Great job here landing a Pg late, and a 3-star kid nonetheless. We’ve had plenty of shorter guards in this league that were excellent. El-Amin, Linehan, Holloway and down the line. This kid is a past-first Pg and I think could be Linehan-esque with his foot speed on defense. For the person who asked, he’s 5’9”, but dunks easily, so he gets up there. His speed and strength though are excellent. His style gonna be a lot different than with Ponds.

Great pickup at this stage who can grow with us. Now let’s land the big kid and keep moving.
