As far as I’m concerned, Fanta is as good a thing to happen to the BE since it’s newest rendition. His work throughout the season for BE is second to none. He’s able to (brilliantly IMO) straddle the line between every day man and basketball insider and he does it without any sense of entitlement.

He’s also expanded his role and is now commenting and analyzing college bball year round with the both the Field of 68 and independently.

Matt left when we all knew CM was on the hot seat. A lot of people were unhappy when he left but it was most definitely the correct decision for his career.

While it didn't work out at Nebraska for him, he would've been let go here the next year so he got ahead of it.

If Matt had stayed and CMA had retained him when Chris left, CMA may still be here. Matt was an excellent recruiter.

I don't know if it's true, but I had heard that Matt's wife was from the Midwest heartland, so going to Nebraska allowed them to be closer to her family at least for awhile.

IMO Matt read tea leaves in last days here and opted to work for Hoiberg, his best man at his wedding btw. Career wise it appeared to be a good choice, but it did not work out. As native New Yorker, I am sure he is happy to be back. The NIL era seems well suited to his experience.

Matt has to take care of his family first. Nebraska gave him a better opportunity and probably better pay. We fans can‘t look at Matt’s departure as desertion. He was trying to better his situation.
