Welcome back LJ Figueroa

Another media member with an ego. Is there anyone legit who actually covers this program?
Interesting fact, Eric Musselman hasn’t filled out his staff so it’s interesting LJ is linked to Arkansas since he never had any connections to Arkansas or Nevada.

Arkansas visit expected within the next week, per source. Miami and Georgia are potential visits. #sjubb

Musselman brutally effective at transfer game
This is probably the weirdest situation I've seen. This reeks of someone playing games or trying to leverage something. So, Hsu, is linked to being a hire at St. John's, and rumors swirl that if he's hired then LJ would be staying. No announcement comes about Hsu joining the staff, then LJ conveniently has to visit Western Kentucky tonight, and then the very next school he has to visit just happens to be the school that just fired CMA. I'm sorry but that seems about as fishy as it comes.
Exactly, kidd seems like he's playing games.
Yes, the kid hustles and a very talent, but i could give a blank that likes playing games.

I'm not stressing.

Few things......

The various websites are reporting what has been made public. None of them should be considered the official portal.

LJ is at a minimum curious. He may stay at St. John's, but it's safe to say that the CMA hire didn't immediately inspire him to recommit.

To me, the most likely scenario with Hsu is that he is not coming to St. John's. Perhaps he wanted to be the Associate Head Coach or maybe it was just not a match with CMA. In that case, you would fully expect him to explore his connections with LJ and try to bring him to WKU. That's his job.

The Arkansas visit seems suspicious at first blush, but why wouldn't the coach previously of "Transfer-U" be after LJ?

My point is, as heart wrenching as this is, it might just be business as usual. I hope LJ stays.

I would say we should relax on the accusations. Hsu’s job is to recruit for wku and LJ is a stud transfer he has a relationship with.

I hope you decide to stick around LJ!

“ the ex-Arkansas coach” isn’t exactly endearing.

To me the “hiring his cousin” was a bit of a dig. Assume he meant Cleveland, who I think has proven himself & not here at this point because he is related.

Very unfair references by Andrew Slater about CMA and TJ.
TJC is a legitimate and senior AC, with great creds in the business, period.
As an aside, it's a bit puzzling that LJ is en route to W KY at the behest of Hsu who once recruited him to NMS, only to bolt shortly afterwards.
Like LJ 'trusts' the guy?!?
My other takeaway here is that CMA was waiting to fill out his Staff, perhaps seeing if Mel Watkins wanted a role and what that would be, AC or SA?, and also juggling between Hsu and Borman for the potential 3rd slot.
IF this is a shot across CMA's bow, it'll be very interesting to see the 'response'.
I'll say that Mike does have to fill out his Staff asap though.
Let's hope.

Just from reading his tweets his seems to be really pushing for Hsu and seems a bit upset he hasn't been hired yet. He even mentioned that Hsu has all the leverage, which is laughable. Coach Anderson just got hired, he's going to get time to build his roster, his job is not on the line if LJ stays or goes. LJ is the one that's a 21 year old sophomore right now, if his goal is to go the league, sitting out an entire year, after coming off of a great year is the absolute worst thing he can do at his age, if he decided to come out after his redshirt junior year that mean he'd be 23 years old going into the draft.

So you don't find it disrespectful to refer to someone by a job they got let go from, instead of their current job? Interesting.

Or I think of the 10k things on Twitter sometimes people spend their time being overly sensitive about 1 tweet.

Furthermore are people more angry about the tweet or about the fact that they all thought LJ was not transferring and now he is visiting schools? Something Slater has nothing to do with. Next time Slater tweets positive news about SJU lets ignore him.

How many times did people come on this board crying over a Jeff Goodman tweet about Chris Mullin over the last 4 years? Sorry I could care less. None of that changes who the coach is nor what the situation is.

Like others, I hope LJ stays - it’s in his and our interests.
With or without LJ however, we will play the season of 2019-20 with a new coach, new staff, newish AD and new roster of some current and some new additions. And a new much improved atmosphere and direction.
I’m fine with letting this play out - it’s out of our control - what LJ decides to do.
All the best.

As much as I like Figueroa, CMA needs to hire a staff he is comfortable with. After the Slice situation we dont need any issues with assistants. Coach will build a program with or without LJ; no need to hire a guy he doenst want to keep one kid on board. Dont like this Hsu guy if he is trying to weasel his way in, im sure he isnt that good or he wouldnt be at WKU, plenty recruiters out there.

If Hsu hasn’t received an offer from St. John’s then he had every right to pursue a very talented player that he knows. It’s pretty common sense to me.

My guess is anyone who wants to play games with Coach Anderson at this point, be it prospective coach or potential returning player, will have a tough time winning. He is in a honeymoon period and needs to make long term decisions.

Absolutely, i was referring to the idea that he is using LJ as "leverage" to in a sense force CMAs hand at giving him a job. Outside of that the man is just doing his job.
