Welcome back LJ Figueroa

A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he(she) is to be ultimately at peace with himself.

Similarly,
LJ must play college basketball so as to choose to be at peace with himself - and he will choose - and SJU seems to be a viable choice.
We shall see.

Ahh, yes General, in a perfect world, LJ returning or should I say 'staying' at St. John's would be a perfect 'ending' to his St. John's career and a great 'beginning' for his pro dreams.
Wouldn't it?
We shall see, indeed.

You have to think that Figueroa is trying to figure out what this team is going to look like next season. Let’s be honest next year is setting up as another long season. I mean is Heron coming back? Who is playing PG? When will Steere be eligible? Tons of questions. Figueroa is probably being told he can be a pro, sooner rather than later. His question probably is can I show enough in what could be a very tough short term situation or do I sit out a year but end up in a stronger place to showcase my talent.

All that being said, from a fan standpoint I love what MA is doing. He is taking his time implementing his vision with his guys to match his style. I know some don’t want to hear it but next season might be interesting but I have a hard time believing we will be winning a whole lot of games. However, MA is laying his foundation. In other words, expectations are low next year but on the upswing after that.
If LJ and Heron return and if CMA finds a decent PG, we could be pretty good next year
We will see first hand that coaching really matters at this level
I would have to guess that should LJ not return then Heron leaves also. In my opinion we need both to even have a decent season.
General, that was PRICELESS!
Frank 61
can you please repeat what you wrote - in BIG BOLD letters
I was having difficulty reading it lol
thank you and you too keep up the good work -
great time to be a Red Storm/Redmen fan :)

General, I am a big fan of yours but not so much Maslow. Supposedly, his hierarchy of needs used Columbia graduate students as test subjects, not exactly typical of the population at large. For people who have experienced oppression I find Fanon's "Wretched of the Earth" far more useful, minus the revolutionary overlay.
I got dizzy just reading that. I’m not gonna try to understand it.

Removing relationship with new staff from the equation, he should ask himself what gets him closer to his ultimate goal: 18 PPG next season at St. John's, or 0 PPG sitting on bench at a school not named St John's. Answer is clear to me, but I'm not him and need to force myself from not commenting again until he decides.

Yup, it seems a very simple calculation, all things being equal.
I have to remind myself I'm not walking a mile in his shoes...which I might fit in, but that's a different story. Lol.

again; the longer this plays out the better chance it is that LJ remains a Johnny.

My guess is LJ is not considering sitting out next year. On top of his age, the kid loves to play the game so much, it would kill him to sit. He has likely had someone explore whether he has any chance for a waiver or if there is any appetite for him at the NBA level. I also think he probably sees returning to SJUBB with CMA as a solid option. We will know before May is out.

Just guessing, but the end of next week might be a key time.
Finals end Wednesday the 15th and Summer School begins Monday the 20th.
We shall see.

Well said, JF. I’m sure he’s looked at those options and also agree that he probably recognizes he’d thrive in CMAs style of play and system.
Any news on LJ?

I'm assuming no news is good news. Still haven't seen anything about him taking anymore visits.
Finals end on Wednesday, I would assume if anything was to happen it would be shortly after that

On a completely unrelated note, couldn’t sleep last night and happened to catch Sat Night Fever, for the umpteenth time, on some obscure cable channel at 1:00AM. Always loved he Double J character. Ha.

Sure looks like it! Would be very odd if he wasn't after posting that. Either way best of luck to an amazing player who has the heart of a lion. LJ is our Jose Reyes...the guy ignites the team and brings the energy every game. All out.
