Ed Kull on an SJU podcast

. 5.1 - Introducing St. John's Director of Athletics Ed Kull

Ed Kull, the eighth Vice President and Director of Athletics in the history of St. John's University, joins the season debut of the podcast to discuss his outlook for the athletic department, his long history with St. John's, NIL in college athletics, men's and women's basketball and more.

The host's voice sounds just like Jake Tapper from CNN

St. John’s Vice President and Director of Athletics Ed Kull joins me on The Eye on the Storm Poscast. We talk about how this is very personal for him. His deep roots in Queens from Archbishop Molloy and playing for Jack Curran to working and learning from Jack Kaiser at his first stint at St. John’s. From NIL to growing the St. John’s brand, plus taking advantage of the Rick Pitino era. Ed joined me for an hour to introduce himself to the fanbase. Enjoy!

Is that the authentic Looie sweater in the frame (or even the one in the glass showcase in the front entrance to arena) or just replicas?

Have become friends with Coach Ricca. Great guy.
I went to the reunion reception after the basketball game and it was well attended. They have a rather large and active set of members.

As Alumni Hall posted, one of the previous regimes threw out many trophies and plaques won by various varsity teams from various years. It was a travesty and ego driven. One trophy that survived (rescued) was on display Saturday. It was a Conference Championship Trophy and had the names of all the coaches, players, trainers, student managers, equipment managers and other support staff. Coach Ricca made sure of that and pointed it out on Saturday.

Glad to see fences being mended with the Football Alumni. It is now time (actually, past time) to place Coach Ricca in the St. John’s Sports Hall of Fame (to be followed in the very near future by a fellow poster for his service and commitment to athletics).
