We Need Rysheed

Well put, Zan. Now we're going to have to listen to the mantra "thinnest team in America". Next year it'll be "youngest and thinnest team in America."

This is as bad a free fall as I've seen from this team in more than a half century.

Safely the Lavin era won't be historically regarded as a period of great stability.

Since Carnesecca, there hasn't been one coach who added any sense of stability. How can an administration completely miss every time? This is more than a Lavin problem. It is a University problem.

Bullseye and then some! Such a shame, especially for us diehards who aren't getting any younger.

It is funny how the first thing to goas we get older is our memory. But when it comes to this program, I can't seem to forget all of the misery it has put us through.
For practicing Catholics, unlike me, rooting for SJU may translate to less time in Purgatory. Btw, does that Limbo place have cable?

I certainly hope so. If I am lucky I will land there and be spared hell. But since you have already been adopted by Italians, I think you also made the Catholic cut, the way you root for this University.

Can't argue with that. Btw, you made sensible decision not renewing your tickets. I of course did not. :)

A major reason I didn't renew was my kids have so many activities after school and on Saturdays. I was going to eat a lot of tickets. Of course, having that feeling of groundhog day around the program helped make my decision a no brainer for me.

But I do miss the gang in section 114.

The fun part of the season has just begun. I have a feeling that your seat will be open.

Being St. John's fans, maybe we are already in hell. Who else but Satan would have the Johnnies run off to an 11-1 start and a national ranking only to pull the rug out very quickly.

When ADR is on the roster next year, we will no longer be the thinnest team in America

Maybe it's me but a team that loses two games where they were down 2 points in the last minute and
it's called the biggest free fall in 50 years, I don't get it.

Only guy who can get to he rim off he bounce from the perimeter.
I will add he is an excellent passer and hits the passing lane on defense quite well.
If we are going to beat nova or make a significant run - we need rysheed.

His entourage needs him too
k
that I believe is the answer, pressure from third parties who have their own interests. What I can't fathom is if he wanted to go to the NBA at the end of this year it doesn't make sense to pack and leave now.

It might be wise to sell some tickets to creigton and duke fans . Rake in whatever you can get. Leave the garden to the visitors.

Perhaps I can explain that it has nothing to do with the last 2 games. It has to do with the fact that we got 1 recruit in 2013 who at present is not playing and may never again play for the program. Our top two recruits in 2014 did not qualify and we are looking for meaningful minutes and contributions from walkons and Un - recruited players. We have 1 commitment for 2015 from the number 196 ranked player in the class who showed next to nothing when he played against PSAL powerhouse Lincoln.
We graduate 4 senior starters and at present are not able to field a team next season.
I fail to see what you are missing. The coach appears to be a lame duck coach and will have a very tough time recruiting additional players for next year. At present it appears Lavin will leave the program in the same condition as It was when Norm was hired.

100% right, Aubie
Lavin's been going through the motions and collecting a big paycheck
He recruited one good class and that has been it
When he leaves, the cupboard will be empty and, once again, we will be back to square one
After this season, it will be several years before we will be competitive again
It is very frustrating to be a SJU fan but, as a 2 time alum, I always will be

Your first sentence reeks of moral victory and I'm tired of those!!!

If you don't feel the free fall downward, God bless.

Do you really think we are going to beat Nova and PC without Jordan? That is an 0-4 conference start and paints a much different picture of what we had just a week ago.

I'm beyond tired of waiting for the shoe to drop and it does every single year.

Hey Mark,

I agree with your above post and would like to expand on 2 of your points:

** Lavin and his "hardworking staff have been going through the motions and collecting a big paychecks.

**When Lavin leaves, the cupboard will be empty. Norm left more talent on the roster than Lavin will leave.

What I find amazing is how the rug has been pulled out from underneath our feet yet again. It truly seemed this was the season where even the bad luck occurrences that happened earlier wouldn't be that major.

I am not giving up on this season, but even the most optimistic fan has to see that we are in big trouble without #23.

Just a week ago we were all looking forward to the conference games with legit anticipation as a top 20 team.

Now we are staring in the face of an 0-3 conference start and dropping out of the national poll. Wow, it is beyond painful being a fan of this program.

We are...
Ya had to be concerned about no size or depth. If CO were to turn an ankle we be the same 6 win team we are now. It goes deeper then Jordan being tough to get along with. The staff stopped working. Bringing in walkons might be easy, but not the same as getting real players. We needed a 6-9 rebound machine so we get Hooper. The staff was working on 2015 and now the kids can play the whole 40. We don't have a guy coming off the bench who can play. Thats not normal. What if 2015 does not work out? This team minimum is missing 4 real players, but that might have involved work. Jordan aside, who has been brought in since CO came? This program could be buried for years.

I don't understand this staff not working stuff. Wasn't it just a couple of days ago that someone wrote that Mo Hicks has been everywhere, working his butt off recruiting? I honestly don't track these things, because it doesn't really have a bearing on how I root for the team. I root for the team that shows up, so I can't look as far as next season at this point.

Beast with all due respect and I am being dead serious as I respect your commitment to the program but I believe Mo Hicks left the program a while ago.

You just proved my point. I don't pay attention to this stuff. But is Chiles working hard or not? HC work on recruiting mostly during the off season, no? No question we've struck out on the biggest recruits recently, but is it really lack of any work as many have suggested?

thanks for the correction. I don't even try to qualify myself as someone has the knowledge of recruits the way you and others on here do. This is a rough time for all SJU fans. Just hope we someone pull this mess together.

I was thinking the same thing. As Paultzman mentioned he could use John Lucas. Why not practice ,play to improve your NBA stock. He doesn't have a chance of making the NBA sitting on his arse at home.
