We don’t deserve Ncaa bid

How many BE teams will make it? I feel like we are fifth in line after Marquette, Nova, Seton Hall and Xavier.

Then it will be really odd to see us in the Round of 32 :)
Dude I love your predictions and you know I defend them and I give you full credit for balls out on a limb but ........balls are getting chopped now. I’ll stsrt a total apaology thread if we win a game. Today was ridiculous but like we have all talked about before 3 wins is tough
This is a team that doesn’t play well after a win for whatever reason. If we avoid Dayton this was probably the best outcome for us.

I think we will will the first round and lose the 2nd round.

We deserve it based on the rest of the country but don’t deserve it based on heart. Ponds has checked out and is thinking about the next level. Unless there is some miracle fire infused in their bellies real quick we are getting knocked out the first round. This team has athletically a chance to make a run in the tourney but not the heart.

Agree Maher! And since 40% of our starting lineup has been deadset on the pros all year I don’t think the NIT bid should be accepted. Time to pack up the balls and go home.

Moran, if you take away x, and.if the pos ref didn't steal the game at the roc, we'd be 5-1 vs nova, shu, and Marquette and in that one at nova, we choked in the end.
Just food for thought.

Also that VCU win on the neutral site is a great win now.

I get the thread and I understand the sentiment, but we’re dancing this season because we’ve had a few really nice wins and this is a down year in college basketball.

Doesn’t take away from the fact, this should have been a much more enjoyable season for the team and us fans and even if we win our round of 64 game we’ll be playing with supposed house money and get our brains beat in because that’s what we do when we’re content.

Sadly, a NCAA win would be our 20-year high point. I would certainly take it but it speaks volumes to the program we’ve become. I was spoiled as a kid and a teenager. We hang our hats on Boo Harvey, Rob Werdann and Bootsy Thornton.

Chris Mullin said he isn’t going to use his postgame press conference to stump for St. John’s chances to make the NCAAT.

Also said the team is going to take a break for the next few days.

“They need a break mentally, physically. They need a break from each other.”

Wow. What the hell is that even supposed to mean?
Love the kids. Can’t ssy a bad word about any of them. Wish they had more coaching or bench help ( take it firvehat it is but bench produdiction is indisputable ) we might back in. I hope we do but we don’t deserve it. No participation trophies
We may deserve to get in, but only bacause we are the queen of the pigs. Based on effort we don't deserve a bid.

Was at MSG tonight. When we cut it to 6 the garden wanted us to take them down and we proceeded to play some of the laziest basketball from that point forward. Love these kids but, other than Simon, they showed no energy and desire to win. As Mullin said last year and will probably say again...this is what happens when you play your way into Wednesday night.

Clark killed whatever momentum by fouling Howard behind the 3 point line. How does a team do that three times in one game?

Oh well. Frustrating season. Onto the next game

I think Ponds is a warrior but he has probably played himself out of even the 2nd round. There was a heave he took tonight from beyond downtown when the outcome was still up for grabs that I believe would not sit well with scouts. Certainly didn’t sit well with me.

If you make the tournament it means you deserve to be there. Why? Because a panel of judges sat down, looked at our body of work over the entirety of the season and decided we’re one of the best 68 teams in the country.

Stop all this nonsense.

Put being a SJU fan aside and ask yourself if you think we are a top 68 team. Ithe body of work is not overly impressive. I do not think we are top 68.

And if we don't make it, with our uninspired performance tonight, we have nothing to complain about. As MJM so eloquently put it, only Simon looked liked he wanted to play tonight. The other 4 starters were prominently MIA. A total disappointment. Wait till next year I guess...

Agree 100%

Embarrassing and humbling to sit through that, with a row of mature Marquette fans clapping staidly in front of us.
Oh well. Can't expect to win on a night we shoot 3-20 (15%) from 3-pt range, 41% from inside the Arc, and ~64% from the free throw line.
Miserable game, but met a great gang of Section 114 stalwarts so what's the worry!
We probably get in. KS leading TX by 7 with ~7 mins left.
And who knows what we do with our low seed?
Rooting for 1 win in the Dance.
Color me an optimist!
