FWIW two future opponents squared off tonight with Bucknell defeating Penn State 90-80. Trap game written all over it for us. But let's just focus on beating Wagner.
I can't make the game so if someone wants my ticket and can come to garden city to pick it up PM me. I can leave it with my assistant so you need to pick it up between 9 and 5

I was glad when I saw we had Bucknell on our schedule. I figured it would be a good chance to face off against a tough, mid-major squad.

Agree completely. That is a huge test for us. I really wanna see how we fair against them.

@NYPost_Brazille: Steve Lavin: "This is by far the toughest schedule I've had at St. John's." #sjubb
I seriously wish he would stop saying things like this.

He may have gone out too far on the limb and needs a little cya. Nothing wrong with that.

It became the toughest after the lucky win over SFState and the loss to Wisconsin. How many ranked teams did he beat with Norm Roberts players?

In 2011 the real Big East was at its peak and we beat Uconn, Duke, Villanova, Cincy, Pitt, Marquette, Gtown and Notre Dame. That was nothing to yawn about. I was never a Norm fan.....that our mom and pop program gave him 6 years still haunts us but those St. John's kids played their hearts out for a new coach that year. I fully expect Lavin's players to give AS MUCH this year. It was that success that allowed Lavin the opportunity to sign his first two classes. It was the power and glamour of the old Big East that attracted top 100 recruiting prospects.
Now I read tweets from Lav about how dangerous Wagner is and how they may be the fastest team we will face this year.
Sure, this is one tough schedule! Bring on Dartmouth in 2014!

Lavin's success year 1 was because of the kids Norm recruited, even though he, Norm, couldn't get anything out of them... got it
Lavin's perceived failure ( after 1 game) this year is because kids he has recruited don't give effort... got it..
Only reason Lavin got these recruits was because the Big east was a powerhouse conference... got it.
Makes perfect sense.. failure- Lavin's fault, success- Someone else ( the conference, no less) gets credit for that..
No one is saying Lavin is above criticism, especially when it comes to in game stuff... But the above statement you make reeks of an agenda that has more to do with personal feelings than anything remotely related to actual basketball. It is blatantly obvious..

You should have stopped at your third....got it .......because you obviously closed your retort by emphasizing .....you did not get it
Of course my opinion is "personal" as in, it is my opinion regarding the Lavin quote re. "toughest schedule" that he, in his hammer to pebble style, totally ignored his best season to date to justify the crap we have been seeing since last year, that has continued into this year. My agenda is that in a weakened Big East that even if we lose to a Wisconsin and Syracuse (likely), that Lavin spare us some of his typical BS regarding opponents that we, a team with 7 top 100 players, should not lose any sleep over,I.e., Wagner.
Frankly, you seem to have no problem saying similar things, without an agenda of course, in another thread:
"Realistically, anything short of a NCAA bid and a victory or two in the tournament and the seat gets hot....
I'm a Lavin fan, but this is the year that we need to see results on the court. It's his 3rd real, full season on the bench and had ample opportunity to get his players in here.. FTR- I think he has brought in a level of talent, no one could have predicted 4 years ago... Now we need to see this translate on the court.."
