Watched yesterday's game on delay - I rarely watch games live anymore - and loved every minute. The team kept bringing it for 40 minutes. Says a lot about their conditioning and Pitino's substitution pattern.
While I've been critical of DJ on here, nothing but good things to say about him after yesterday's game. He's clearly developing and working his a%s off. Shot selection notwithstanding, he is the straw that stirs the Johnnies' drink.
A joy to watch Dunlap. We finally have a shooter after years of wandering in the 3-point wilderness. By end of season, JS will be NBA-ready if not sooner. Based on his sideline enthusiasm and energy, Wilcher is a quality kid. He's in good hands with Pitino, and I think he's well aware.
I was at MSG for last year's Providence game and would love to be there on Wednesday, but it's a long way from Cape May. All I can say is when the day comes we make it back to the Final Four, this board is going to go freaking nuts and I'll have to double up on my BP meds.
BTW, the Post ran a story about Gus Alfieri that will resonate with Long Island b-ballphiles. https://nypost.com/2024/01/02/sports/gus-alfieri-st-johns-standout-dead-at-87/
