Amed, Ellison, Yakwe are just not division 1 basketball players....they are killing this team.

and Mussini is much worse the Ellison and Ahmed, so what does that tell ya

Ahmed's averaging 13 points, five rebounds and and assist an a half a game and is shooting 40 percent from three. He's scored in double figures in nine straight and over his last six is averaging 16 points and 6 rebounds. That tells ya that we could use a couple more players who aren't D1 basketball players, we might win a game or two.

Mussini I get the feeling will be playing in Palermo next year. I just hope he doesn't miss his flight.

... Alibegovic hopefully will be joining him. Ahmed, Shamorie Ponds, Lovett and Owens are the 4 true D1 high level players we have. They are the only ones we cannot afford to lose. Adding Simon and Clark will help but we need a serviceable big over 6'7 to rebound. Hopefully we add 2 more players with some talent while losing two who have very little.

I suspect there is one named Bill Melchionni who played against us in Lapchick's last game who might disagree with you.

Sicily? Wow you're really relegating him to the lowest rung of society, not to mention basketball

Synchronicity. I just wrote a bit I don't want to burn about Italian BB players that featured Melchionni, a Villanova grad. (Tune in next week fans). Fun fact: Melchionni played on two of the most talented basketball teams that ever played the game: in 1967 he played with Wilt, Hal Greer, and Chet Walker on the 76ers and in 1974 he won an ABA championship with Julius, Larry Kenon, John Williamson, and Billy Paultz. That's some rarefied air right there.

Ellison is the sort of four year player every program needs. Unfortunately this is only year two. Yakwe is magnificently athletic, hopefully this year is an anomaly, there's precedent for recovery. Last year he played on instinct, this year he's thinking, he should stop thinking. The German, it's too soon to write him off, he has Detlef Schrempf with a head injury potential. Alibabegowicth&the40thieves is hopeless but at best he's a tenth man, who cares. Williams coming back if he has another year is an interesting prospect, he has the makings of a good basketball player. In any event if the core comes back and they add a big fifth year senior I'm moderately bullish on next year.

I don't know what you are but I'm pretty sure I know what I am. Grandpa Tamburrino might have come WithOutPapers but he didn't come without DNA.

When running on all cylinders, with a complete team, when can compete with most any team in the country. Even without much of a front court. When we don't bring it, we are capable of losing to most anyone(IE Delaware, LIU, etc) in the country. We needed to come out of the box strong yesterday. Always a bad omen when the game starts and Lovett is on the bench. Then Shamorie immediately gets in foul trouble and is basically non-existent. Game over. It's a testament to the kids, and a boon for CC and MM, that we made 2 pretty strong runs after it looked like Nova was going to completely blow us off the court. But to little, to late. If the entire team returns-and that's a BIG if, I'm hopeful that they can grow from these kinds of experiences. Time will tell.

Coming out strong seems prudent, considering we have too often gotten smacked in first half of games only to try to dig out of a big hole. Yesterday the game was over In first half, as was that debacle in DC v Georgetown. Part of progress should be staying competitive out of gate, not getting moral victories by cutting huge margins. Hopefully we win several games remaining at home and truly compete on the road. That will set right tone for next season assuming we also add pieces & keep key players in place.

A 13 point loss (and yes I know it wasn't really that close) on the road at the #4 team in the country is by no means a disaster. My upside hope for this game was a 12 point loss, the downside was 24. End result was fine. Also forced 23 TOs, after high teens against X and Marquette. That ballhawking is becoming a trademark, along with the blocks.

One piece at a time.

Agree. And along with the steals we probably average 80 points a game. Just think next year with Clark in for Ellison we will be stronger offensively. Owens will also be much better. We're going to need our point guard, Lovett, to become a leader to control things, especially early in the game.

I think one piece at a time means we're going to need our pg Lovett to return next year.
Losing him would be a huge step backwards.

You shouldn't use the picture of your Urologist as your Avatar. It may piss him off. :p

Continued inconsistency. Disappointing because I thought we played them worse than we did at home, and perhaps more frustrating seemed to make so few obvious adjustments from that game to try to play them better. But probably in large part a product of that inconsistency.

Still doesn't excuse inability to get out of the gates.

All in all, 3-3 after that 4 game losing streak is a very good result and think most would have signed for it. Think it's a long shot but another 3-3 is a good target for remainder of regular season schedule. The Butler/Providence/Marquette version of this team showing up Saturday would be a great start.

Getting a lead at half would be nice, a positive outcome in most games to date I believe. SH is certainly a winnable game, especially with a strong start IMO.

Hopefully there won't be the need to bench our best player for first 5 minutes. That might help us get off to a better start.
