Villanova (MSG), Wed., Jan. 24, 8:30p, FS-1

Attendance for this game last year was 13,504 on a Friday at 7, but with two bad teams. It would be great to crack 15,000.
No chance.

At this point besides the UConn game which I expect probably 17k in the building, I'd set the O/U on MSG attendance at 11,750. Two games have been over 12k. Seems like that 12 number is when the crowd feels very good.

Plenty of non resale seats are available in lower bowl tonight. I would take the under.

I know this is the Nova thread... but re: UConn... there are only 61 tickets left in the sections MSG opened up for sale in the 200s... only ~60 left on the Bridge... (I'm in the market for more tickets..)

That game is gonna be PACKED... sadly... 55/45 SJU/UConn split probably... MSG might open up more sections this next week.

Last year they weren't the national champions with a chance to repeat.

Guarantee this is a 50/50 crowd. We'll have 0 home court advantage, at best its a neutral.

What other school has this kind of albatross on their neck? At home, playing the #1 team in the country, and their fans will be as loud as ours.

I hate MSG games for this. I hate CA period, but I would take it for these games to make sure the team has the crowd on their side. The players deserve that.

MSG is a recruiting tool and I guarantee the players would much prefer playing there even w a split crowd than CA. You can only narrow the attendance gap there by winning consistently. Win the game v serious National Championship contender, split crowd or not, to start moving the needle. To me, moving a game like this to CA seems lame.

Believe me I hate being outnumbered at home as much as you do. Part of the problem is that they are much LOUDER than we are and they consistently cheered for their team throughout the game. I love playing at the Garden and attending games there even if it is not 100% Johnnies Nation. (Just me).

When we win and the other team has a decent %, it is so much fun to look at their depressed state when the horn sounds. Especially Uconn fans, and over the years we've had some nice wins there.

Not being from Queens or LI, CA is not appetizing for many reasons, including the bleacher seats, it absolutely kills an old man's back.

I have no problem taking the subway during the day, taking it at 10:45...not so much.
I was busting you, for me I think the cut off for subway riding should be once it gets dark outside and nowadays that is early. Later in the year much later.

Now I am getting almost all of my information from the nightly news shows, and my nephew in the City tells me I am way off-base, that he travels on the subways all the time and they are as safe as they have always been.

Agree with all points being raised. I'm saying I prefer CA more because its the only other option vs. it being a good one. Yes, MSG is a recruiting tool. Yes, CA is lame. Yes, it's isolating. I get all that.

At the same time, there has to be a better solution than making our kids "home" games essentially neutral. Asking them to be a perennially ranked top 10 team just to have the turnout they need for these to be home games.... it's been 20 years now of our big games not having a real home court advantage. I think its fair for us to admit that MSG has its flaws and I honestly believe it makes it harder for us to get key wins, which is ultimately the exact opposite of what a home court should do.

no denying this point... UConn and Syracuse are the only two schools that MSG seems like an Away game.

Only thing working in our favor here is the early start... they'll only be able to consume what they can on their train ride in... which can still be a lot... lol.

Have to start re-Building the Brand... as Rick says. Start tonight with a Sweep of Nova. Knock off #1 on the 3rd.

We are "Giant Killers"... remember? lol
