Villanova (MSG), Wed., Jan. 24, 8:30p, FS-1

Looking at the LIRR train schedule home tomorrow and having to wait in Penn Station till 11:20pm and avoiding Roses Pizza while waiting for the train will require the most focus and sheer willpower mjmaherjr has ever exerted. I gotta hope for overtime and game ending at 11:05pm

LIRR must be getting pizza royalties with this train schedule
Have an IPA, give yourself a hug, it'll be OK.;)

MSG is a recruiting tool and I guarantee the players would much prefer playing there even w a split crowd than CA. You can only narrow the attendance gap there by winning consistently. Win the game v serious National Championship contender, split crowd or not, to start moving the needle. To me, moving a game like this to CA seems lame.
Agree 100%. Don't "run away" from MSG because of the split crowd. Winning consistently will result in an increase in attendance ("Subway Alumni") and a higher proportion of SJU fans.
Big time recruits and national media coverage need MSG exposure.

Also think the "CA Home Court Advantage" is being overstated. Last season we played 6 Big East games at CA and won only 2 (DePaul, Butler). Lost (Xavier, Marquette, Seton Hall, Creighton).

Lavin's best team won several games at MSG. Winning solves the home court "problem".

I was busting you, for me I think the cut off for subway riding should be once it gets dark outside and nowadays that is early. Later in the year much later.

Now I am getting almost all of my information from the nightly news shows, and my nephew in the City tells me I am way off-base, that he travels on the subways all the time and they are as safe as they have always been.
Correct. Trains are still crowded at 11PM. Much later could be a problem depending on the line,

Yes. Fair or not this is true. We need to beat T25 teams (AP poll not NET) 50%+ of time, win 50%+ of nail biters, and win consistently. Avoid back to back losses. We don’t really do many of these historically. Casuals won’t go unless they see we have a real chance to or even better, beat Michigan, Texas, etc. type teams. We got blown out by a bad Mich team which killed momentum fan wise. Now lost 3 straight including Hall blowout plus lost to BC early. After being down bad 23+ yrs & losing a generation, you simply cannot get the casuals back with this type of performance so far. No huge wins. Utah was very good W but not really brand name, they’re newly minted power team.
