Villanova (MSG), Sat., Jan. 11 , 7p, CBSSN

I can be wrong but a lot of Scott's fouls seem to be swipes for balls/off the ball.

Dixon is also shooting 49% from 3pt on the season. Outside of one game against Seton Hall (1-6), he's been startlingly very consistent from three.
Dixon gets very frustrated when not making 3s. We do a great job guarding the 3 point line. I think this goes the same way as last year.

Huge game, I want to se that they aren't satisfied with last night's big win, and they come out very hungry. If they come out determined and get this win then I'll put them right there with UConn and Marquette.

Jay Wright was always instructing his players to back off the SJU players, clog the middle and give up the three. If Vill follows that strategy and SJU takes over twenty threes I expect a nail biter.
If SJU takes fifteen or less threes I expect a ten point victory.

Dixon's averaging 8 three point attempts in Big East play. We cannot lose track of him from the perimeter trying to get rebounds. I'm worried about Scott getting into foul trouble with the size disadvantage.

I think this is Zuby's game to shine from the perimeter. His perimeter defense has been outstanding. But if not him, why not Prey? He weighs 230 and can also move laterally. He had some glimpses of a real shutdown defender against Freemantle last night.
Agree, that given Dixon's game, Prey might help here and there, more than other bigs for us.

Frankly, Freemantle is good but no Dixon.

Dixon is the epitome of big strong undersized college big, with a strong inside game, his added dimesion is stroking the three ball. He's not only a tough match-up for us, but for a lot of teams.

Prey has potential but at this juncture, and especially on defense, the game is just way, way too fast for him mentally and physically. If you want him to stand in the post and defend, I am fine with that - he plays bigger than Vince (is it possible to play smaller than Vince?). But when he is put in a position where he has to switch, or know when to close out on a shooter, or anything that involves thinking and reaction time, he just isn't there yet. Dixon will eat his lunch.

Zuby will be fine on Dixon and you can also use Scott, Luis, or Vince on him (and potentially Kadary) so our usual switching D should be fine.

I am not in love with the switching D when I see Zuby on somebody's point guard or Smith defending a 6'10" guy in the post, but I can't object to the results.

Agree . We improved 100 percent on 3’s last night Vs X . 2-16 .

Which for the stats people was good . We made double the 3’s with 5 less attempts .
Trending ?

We need to harass Dixon . Limit Nova from 3 like we did against X and beat them off the dribble .
We never let X , a good 3 shooting team get set as our guys were on them like flypaper from the 50’s.
A win against Nova is always a bellwether of good things .

This would be a shocking loss given the effort we saw last night, but I've learned over the years to never be surprised. Still, think we'll take this one comfortably and be ranked Monday.

I think Scott will guard Dixon. Dixon is a multiple threat, from the three and bully ball, which could lead to foul problems. Although I am not a fan I think Ayo is big enough to handle bully ball and give Scott a blow. If we handle Scott we take away their best player.

Zuby is almost genetically engineered to guard a guy like Dixon though he may need some help if Dixon catches it deep. Zuby has the length and athleticism to keep up with him on the perimeter and alter his shot. The problem is Nova plays Dixon and Boakye together a lot so I expect Scott to get time on Dixon as well.

Ayo on Dixon might as well just concede the game.

Eric Dixon 6'8" 265/Aaron Scott 6'7" 210/Zuby 6'9" 240/Soriano 6'10" 256

I say to keep Zuby out of foul trouble and near the rim, we put Scott on Dixon and attack him with smart double teams, different guys attack him low to disrupt his game, try to force bad passes.

One on one, Dixon is a beast with his size and strength, plus a nice touch from outside,

I love Zuby and he is our version, but with less muscle (and he's got a lot of muscle).

Other way to go is let Dixon get his and shut the rest of Nova down.

CRP and Mass will figure it out.
I know Scott is listed at 210 but he is definitely heavier (at least he appears to be). He is not 5 pounds lighter than RJ and he's definitely more than 5 pounds heavier than Glover.

I think Scott will guard Dixon when Nova has their other big man on the floor. When Dixon is playing the 5, Zuby will guard him.

Classes don’t start until the 22nd so I don’t expect a lot of students. 15k is the amount of tix sold I think students are counted already
I expect a decent student showing. Mostly all the students live in or around NYC and are a pretty quick public transport commute away from Penn Station whether they are in NYC, NJ, Long Island, Westchester/Connecticut
