Throwing in my two cents worth. Been going to games since 1980 with the exception of year they decided to put the award program in place where they raised the ticket prices and being a member of the Red/White club and the more you contributed gave you better seating options. I decided then I needed a break from an inferior on the court program and with three kids could find better things to do with my disposable income. I did return the following year.

In the last month or so I have really started to contemplate whether or not I will continue to buy tickets. Tired of watching mediocre basketball, hate the 6:30 games a CA (difficult for me to get to if am at the office) and a few other gripes. Really has me thinking about the money I've invested no wasted, watching the stuff for so many years.

We shall see but I did away with my Jets season tickets, I can do this too!
85' I too gave up my season tickets when they raised ticket prices. Plus I felt like they were trying to dupe us fans by claiming CMA was a "home run hire", and then raising ticket prices largely based on the CMA hire. It all just felt so wrong to me on so many levels. So I said "F it" and didn't renew. Having said that, moving forward if I feel that the school is truly committed to having a winning program, with actions not just with words, not only will I get season tickets again, I'll join the Red-White Club. Especially now that I know how much fun it is thanks to my buddy Panther.

I think everyone knows how important it is to win this game tonight . If we don’t , it negates any positives from the Uconn game , regardless of the Huskies falling into the Abyss .. This . isn’t a sterling Nova team but , it’s still Villanova . Wishing everyone attending tonight a good evening at Stout’s and a Win at MSG

To me, this is our most important game in years. We have a mediocre Nova team coming into our building and we’re the favored team. If we want to really start believing that maybe this season is going somewhere, we have to win this game, win it in a resounding way and send their fans out of our building with their tails between their legs. LGJ!

I’m retired since Pandemic and now have no problem making the 6:30 games, but before that it was a big problem and there are a ton of them. The TV aspect and the effect on attendance is real. The 6:30 starts and 8:30 starts are both designed totally for TV as both times provide issues for those attending in person. And every game is on TV so watching that way is always an option. It’s not like the OOC conference games were available on TV, even a short time ago. That’s half the home schedule.

In any metro area it will be real tough for any college team to draw unless they are going well. Look at Georgetown. I suspect it could never be THAT empty at Creighton. How well is going well? Opinions vary and what it takes but surely what SJU has accomplished in the last ten years is not enough. This year at some of the Carnesecca games I have been taken by how many old friends and acquaintances I have run into who I knew had season tickets only to find out they had given them up. And now go to a few games a year. These were never miss a game types.

Can’t blame anyone. I mention from time to time that I dropped my tickets for the entire Norm era. As I missed that I ask those who didn’t - is the attendance at Carnesecca even worse than then?

I too know quite a few who have given up their tickets. I gave my buddy who use to sit next to me but gave up his seats the same time I did my two tickets for the Butler game.

Looking forward to the game tonight and hoping we out number and are louder than the Nova fans.

Due to stuff that can’t be avoided (nothing serious) this is the only game I should miss this year. When I sold my tickets three weeks ago that seemed like a shrug. Now I’m jealous as it could be the only game all year with real juice in the arena.

Here’s hoping to a win so it’s not!

You didn't miss the Norm error trust me! :giggle:

I know what you mean. I hate the 6:30 CA games for that reason. If I come into the office, I have to either leave early, go back to the Island, grab my car and drive in (the reverse commute on the LIE or Northern State is not as bad as those going in the peak direction but its getting close) or take the LIRR, get off and take a bus or uber to St. John's and do the reverse to get home if one of my family members doesn't come.

I had the option of working from home or the office and then go to tonights game but decided to use my one day of working from home a week on Tuesday since I was going to be in the city for the game anyway. Hope to see some of you at Stout for the pregame.
Another reason that I left NY. Traffic. NY is becoming another California without the nice weather. They keep building Long Island with no studies done on what effect it will have on traffic. It's an island and there's only two directions that you can go. You can no longer go anywhere on the LIE, Northern State or Southern State anytime without hitting some sort of traffic. Long Island and New York is just becoming too crowded.
