Vanderbilt, Mon., Nov. 23, 2:30 PM, ESPN2 & 970 AM

IMO, the only real negative with this team so far is the extremely poor play of Durand Johnson who outside of the short stretch against UMBC has done vey little positively and an awful lot negatively,

Forces everything, horrible shot selection. To date, not the experienced, smart leader envisioned by some. In my world, enjoying development of Mussini & Sima, keeping things in perspective.

No surprises in anything that happened today – except maybe the silly carping on here about the coach or the current state of our team and I guess that shouldn't really be a surprise.

We got killed by a top 20 team. It's going to happen more than once this year. We'll look for a little progress from week to week.

Bingo, IMO, that and the team continued to play, and as I said previously, that's all I expect.

he was serious... cause Sciambi agreed with him.

Seriously, you have to be kidding me. Shorts and warm ups? I mean it's bad enough reading about the "fans" kind enough to give Mullin a pass this year but shorts and warm ups?

Much better 2nd half. Maybe the staff made some adjustments at HT. Sign of a good coach.

Oh boy

Agree with the "Oh boy". Almost embarrassed the comment was attached to one of my posts!!

OMG. You guys really need to relax. We got waxed by a much better team. Can't possible judge coaching one way or another when there is that big of a gap in talent. Even if Coach K was behind the SJU bench we weren't winning today.

losing by almost 40 does not surprise you? I know we were not expected to win but I think most of us would have thought it would be at least a ballgame going to half.

Why is everyone rushing in one direction or the other to come to a conclusion on CM? The fact is that we won't know very much about him as a coach until we get deep into the 16-17 season. Right now all we know is he and his team can recruit pretty well. We don't know anything else, and frankly can't know anything else until next years team has a pretty good number of games under their belts.

why do I have to have it out for him? I haven't drank the Kool Aid like most but that does not mean I have it for him. I don't think he is a great coach now.....but hopefully he gets there.

Because your criticism couldn't be more ridiculous. I assume from your reply you WOULD think he was a great coach if he wore pants and didn't throw up a couple of jumpers during warm ups.

Certainly realize we will take our lumps this year, but thought your "half time adjustments" comment was humorous.

Just cause I did not heap praise on CM like everyone else does not mean i have come to a conclusion on him at all... my comments were merely to state that I would expect a first time coach with no track record as a head coach to toe the line a little more than he does.

I was expecting to watch a basketball game in Hawaii and instead what I saw was Pearl Harbor all over again

Well at least our FT shooting was pretty good. Other than that its pretty much one to forget and onto the next game.

You're never as bad as when you are stinking up the place. He may just be trying to do too much at this point. With nothing to lose, I'll reserve judgment and say he is better than what he has displayed so far. Today is just a reality check. Then again, they were better than they played against STAC, so we may see some upside against better competition as well.

If not, it will be the mini version of Curtis Redding.

Listen, Let's just Blame this on Lavin. He got us into this tournament. We were better suited to play in the Barclays Center Invitational.

I think we should blame the Atlantis tournament on Lavin as well. What was he thinking putting us into top tournaments.

All that proves is "most of us" don't know a darn thing about basketball, in my humble opinion.

I think Williams has been the biggest disappointment. He's given the team nothing and I think most of us expected him to be a starter and double digit scorer.

Rather than say I'm not surprised, I will commiserate and say I've never liked the downward part of roller coasters so I keep my feet on the ground instead of riding.

Most than are not paying attention, setting up Mullin to fail, big Lavin fans, or all three.
Team was ranked 19th in country. We were picked dead last in BE with a thrown together team of which our best player was ruled ineligible basically right before the season. We might not win 10 games and will probably be blown out in most games. If you do not have an agenda, the sooner you embrace that reality the better off we will all be.

thats fair, and for the record I think the praise is unwarranted atm as well, as he hasn't done anything yet as a coach (W/L wise). I just feel many people are trying to fit what happens into their own view of Mullin rather than reserving judgment until we have something of substance to judge CM on as a coach.

Hence the term "so far." But don't let that prevent you from offering another cliche laden reply, much appreciated.

You didn't croak yet? :) Personally I preferred your misguided optimistic summary that we have to play all the games to know whether we will be good or not.
