i think some of you are being way to optimistic! None of these guys can shoot! NONE !! They could not break 50 points tonight. Harrison was said to be one of the best shooters in the country YEA OK! I believe if Pelle and Sampson were here we still would of SUCKED because no one can shoot! By adding a couple of guys i don't see us being any much better. Some of you guys are saying Gathers being here will change the team a lot.. How are you so sure? he will be a freshman just like our guys are now and our freshmen stink. i hate to say it but im being honest. from what i saw in Gathers highlight videos all he did was dunk, is that whats going to change this program? HELL NO wee need SHOOTERS who play Defense. I read this site because i live and die STJ but some of you are just not realistic and are setting yourself up for a let down.

To say our freshmen stink is idiotic. We have 2 of the best 3 freshmen in the league in Harkless and Harrison. The others are coming along at different rates. Look at how Malik Waayns is turning on the gas now, but was not a superstar freshman. Give these kids time and they will get a lot better. The unrealistic ones are the guys expecting a team of freshmen to be polished and all be ready for big east winning. That's an absurd expectation. Truth is that none of these kids stink. Certainly they have a lot of work to do. Look how Norms guys finished 3rd in the big easy last year. It took a few years and a good staff to get them there.

Harrison and Mo are 2 legit scorers. Problem is we have no scoring after that. Next year, we need to have a 3rd scorer on the court with them. Who will that be?
What's more idiotic my assessment of this team or some of the guys on here assessment of GG at the start of the season? Saying he is an NbA talent when he was playing lesser teams.. Gtown plays mostly freshman and they wooped us. Honestly that #3 recruit class was a total lie unless the two that are not here are really that good...

Enoigh with Georgetown. Their top 3 players are 2 seniors (Clark, Sims) and a junior (Hollis). Those guys have experience. Yes, they also have some nice freshmen and their size killed us.
This idea that our guys can't shoot for their lives isn't entirely accurate. Our guys have frequently, and predictably for freshmen, exhibited absolutely awful shot selection. You can't expect them to have good shooting %s when they're regularly throwing up prayers with the shot clock expiring.
With that said; there's clearly room for improvement in the games of guys like Garrett and Dom. But that will improve with practice, conditioning, and better looks.
Can we blame this season on Norm as well since he recruited in a way that whether he would have stayed or not he would have had to rebuild an entire team in one season, hence having all freshmen as opposed to a balance of upperclassmen with experience playing and underclassmen learning and training.

Are you part of that secret cult of fans who specialize in negative posts, fabricated stories (GG an NBA talent), (Gtown plays mostly frosh), etc. Newsflash brainless...that #3 recruiting class never arrived....only half did! And that NBA talent that was supposed to be the next coming of Allah Iverson transferred before New Year's Eve.
I am not sure how many negative posters here have migrated from Johnny Jungle or Big East Boards but the above post is truly written in the traditional "we suck" style of Marco Baldi, Real Fan, Poison, Illwill 1,2 and 3 and is infecting even loyal and knowledgeable posters here......you know who you are!
We can compare this team of 5 inexperienced freshmen and 1 junior college transfer to Duke, Uconn, Syracuse and Marquette until you puke but there is no comparison other than for those of you old enough to remember a comparison between Mel Davis and Billy Schaeffer's freshman team that was the best in America in 1969 to them playing UCLA, Marquette or Syracuse that year and having even the slightest chance of beating them......lol!
That these frosh have already beaten Cincy and Providence is a big accomplishment. That they did not lose by 33 points as did the #3 team in the nation as UNC did with 6 Mickey D all-Americans is a miracle.
Maybe these freshmen of ours will beat Villanova Saturday and win their 3rd Big East game as freshmen. That would be a positive.
But some of the cultists here will still be unimpressed. I am sure those fans are also fans of cult leader Mitt Romney and are really Latter Day Saint John's fans who hide their $$ in the Cayman Islands and think John Smith and his 18 wives was the last true prophet.
