how many times must we say it...we need a point guard. period. you just can't win without one. we don't have one. it's difficult to watch this team because of it.

when we had two of the top five players in high school...felipe lopez and zendon hamilton...along with some other top quality guys, we couldn't win because we had no point guard. mahoney was coach of the year because david cain learned how to play the position.

the kid from texas a&m gives us a chance to be much better.

and this aside...at least we don't have to worry about dunlap jumping ship for a head coaching job somewhere else. the nba may lure him back...but this year is a tough sell.

So you can't win without a point guard but Dunlap is doing harm to his reputation because he's not winning? Funny but most basketball people I talk to think he has done a great job and FWIW I agree. Lavin would have had a much tougher time listening to his doctor's were Dunlap not here. It never ceases to amaze me how easy you guys think it is to win or even compete at this level.

I still don't care for our zone offense - three guards outside passing the ball back and forth, then a pass to the corner , back outside. No movement, no picks. Zone defenders just standing still, don't have to move at all. Have you seen any wide open shots by us against the zone? Yet, look at our opposition popping 3's without any hands in the face.
The ball has to move quickly against the zone, either through penetration or posting GG or Moe on the foul line.

 What's more idiotic my assessment of this team or some of the guys on here assessment of GG at the start of the season? Saying he is an NbA talent when he was playing lesser teams.. Gtown plays mostly freshman and they wooped us. Honestly that #3 recruit class was a total lie unless the two that are not here are really that good...

 

Are you part of that secret cult of fans who specialize in negative posts, fabricated stories (GG an NBA talent), (Gtown plays mostly frosh), etc. Newsflash brainless...that #3 recruiting class never arrived....only half did! And that NBA talent that was supposed to be the next coming of Allah Iverson transferred before New Year's Eve.
I am not sure how many negative posters here have migrated from Johnny Jungle or Big East Boards but the above post is truly written in the traditional "we suck" style of Marco Baldi, Real Fan, Poison, Illwill 1,2 and 3 and is infecting even loyal and knowledgeable posters here......you know who you are!
We can compare this team of 5 inexperienced freshmen and 1 junior college transfer to Duke, Uconn, Syracuse and Marquette until you puke but there is no comparison other than for those of you old enough to remember a comparison between Mel Davis and Billy Schaeffer's freshman team that was the best in America in 1969 to them playing UCLA, Marquette or Syracuse that year and having even the slightest chance of beating them......lol!
That these frosh have already beaten Cincy and Providence is a big accomplishment. That they did not lose by 33 points as did the #3 team in the nation as UNC did with 6 Mickey D all-Americans is a miracle.
Maybe these freshmen of ours will beat Villanova Saturday and win their 3rd Big East game as freshmen. That would be a positive.
But some of the cultists here will still be unimpressed. I am sure those fans are also fans of cult leader Mitt Romney and are really Latter Day Saint John's fans who hide their $$ in the Cayman Islands and think John Smith and his 18 wives was the last true prophet.

 

Hey, poor Mitt got stuck paying 15% in taxes. Give him a break. The GOP mantra this year has been giving more money to the rich so they invest it and create jobs. I wonder how many Mitt created? Oh but he enjoys firing people and Newt thinks the protestors should go home, take a bath and get a job. And one of these morons wants to be the "jobs president" instead of the "food stamps president." What would it take for Americans to wake up - people starving in public? I think it's disturbing how stupid and misinformed the public has become not how our team has regressed (which it has). I'm voting for the black guy this time but I'm worried that it could be closer than it should be.

With so few jobs to be had these guys are still hating on the less fortunate and selling it. Gingrich's tirade last night when he got singed out of the box was totally priceless. Anything to avoid answering a legit question about his family values. I sure hope the poor people get to the polls. And about the evils of government spending? When was the last time the government outsourced jobs like the private sector does? There are plenty of rich people left and all they think about is how to make more and to hell with public interests. I sure have seen a lot of conservatives changing their tunes lately as they fall closer to needing what the government provides. Yeah just watch all the investing that goes on if one of these knuckleheads gets elected. I never thought I'd be in a higher tax bracket than a guy who admits to making 270 million but here we are.......
