Up Next: Creighton

My main point was we don't close out on long jump shots well and that needs to happen against Creighton. The quarterback accuracy analogy doesn't hold. Wragge hit shots with guys on him. It's not like he only scored when he was wide open and had time to shoot. They had to be all over him and when they were he often had trouble.

I was kind of kidding but your answer just confuses me more. I miss the difference between "Wragge hit shots with guys on him" and "They had to be all over him and when they were he often had trouble." When I play if guys are on me they are usually all over me; if there is a difference to you I apologize, your point went right over my head.

No need to apologize and no offense taken. There are good looks well defended that go in. There is harassing defense that knocks guys off their rhythm. That's the difference. Wragge and McDermott work really hard to get away from defenders and they don't like contact.

According to the Creighton board: St. Johns' flight into Omaha from Chicago last night was delayed by about two hours.

Can anything ever go smoothly for us?

At least everyone made the plane. I think. :$

Flight was delayed a lot longer than 2 hours. Original flight yesterday morning was cancelled Saturday night.

Winning and Losing against Creighton:
Marquette and Providence are good benchmarks since we have some similarities in personnel. Marquette has a more powerful frontcourt than us or Providence but overall these are two athletic teams. One thing I note is that while 19 threes seems a lot, for Creighton it is not. Providence limited both the number made and number attempted. vs Marquette they took 35 threes which is the same number they took against Nova. In the GW loss Creighton shot 7 of 25 from three and in the SD St loss I think that game had more to do with Fouls and Free throws. SDSt killed it from the line and got two of their guys to foul out. Providence also got to the FT a lot more than Creighton whereas Marquette did not capitalize on this.

The two takeaways for me are: deny the three and work it inside to draw fouls - hit free throws.

Agree we have to take it at them and see if we can get a few in foul trouble...Conversely, we have to avoid ticky tack reach in fouls

We need to come out with the styffling press defense that has gotten teams off rythm before in order to have a fighting chance... Keep rotating and keep get some fresh legs in there and we could pull it off. I dont see why not

That's because even the pilots don't want to fly there, even for a short stay.

We have the athletes to beat Creighton or any other big east team. We just have to go out there and execute. You have to think this squad has at least has one signature win in them. Need some of our guys to step up and play their best game of the season.

Took me 2 days to get out to Chicago. Balmy -11 right now! Actual temperature!

We need to be firing on all cylinders just to stay in this game. They have weapons all over the place and they know how to get it to them by their assist numbers. I'm hopeful, but i really think we get run over tonight.

12.5 dogs! The oddsmakers are expecting us to get crushed.

Th good news is it moved 2 points in 24 hours.
The bad news is it hasn't been cancelled.

Obviously not scientific, but when I see the line open at a number that big the first thing I think is that Vegas wants the money to flow towards SJU and the points, because they see a significant Creighton win. And that's exactly how the line has moved.

I always feel better in this situation if it's something like a 8 point line, which would tempt the money towards Creighton pushing it out towards a double-digit line. That would have me thinking that Vegas likes SJU to surprise and keep it within striking distance.
