Up Next: Creighton

Great fightback from 18 down. Rasheed money on the line at the end but if only we had not missed so many FT's earlier.

It just had to be McDermott with the dagger at the end. That guy is a machine.

Tough loss but we did a lot of things well and if we can bring the defensive intensity to the Marquette game, we should win.

So we have the ball in regulation and OT against Prov at home with shot clock off time game, and we don't get shots off. Tonight we leave a kid with 36 points (when the rest of the team had 24) wide open for a 3. It is coaching. For those of you who do not want to be negative and think to be a fan you have to always be nice and supportive, then good luck to all of you throughout the rest of Lavin's tenure.

I hope someone starts a Fire Lavin chant Saturday. I tried vs Nova and only a few people joined in, I guess because our fan base doesn't even care enough to do that. I won't be able to make the game Sat, and at 2-7 probably not many more.

What do you think, that the kids are robots? That Lavin failed to program them to guard Mcdermott? The kids screwed up. It happens. Mcdermott is great, and great players beat you.

One of the best players players in the country had his best game of the season against us....what can ya do. The problem was that we only got 7pts combined from Sanchez, Branch, and Greene.

I am no expert - but we were robbed- watch the game and go back and watch the constent fouling by Creighton - time after time after time. Yes- I realize this is looking like sour grapes - but I can count on my hand the number of games referees have cost us a victory. Please explain to me the foul on Jordan - watch Mc Dermotts last shot- the moving pick? We have the worst refs in major conference basketball -

why didn't we foul- with 11 secs left- at worst we are down 2 best tied and we have 9 seconds left to tie or win?

Do you think Lavin told Obekpa to give him space? watch the reply...Obekpa took his eyes off McD...Not Lavin's fault on that one

This post did change my mind, you are right.

He got caught ball watching, you can't do that when you're guarding a guy with 36 points under his belt.

I'm so damn tired of losing like this man, I can't imagine how the guys feel.

This one is going to take a lot to get over. The guys played their hearts out and showed a ton of guts. I can't help think, however, that we beat ourselves with some really terrible play at the beginning of both halves and with our continually bad free throw shooting. We should have been up 6 at the end not tied. Hopefully we can beat Nova at Nova and beat these guys at MSG.

If nothing else it was fun until Dougie MC hit that last shot.

I think the team is going in the right direction. Coach said in December and early January the team would come together in late January or February and most of us thought he was wrong. I think they are coming together. I think we were 14pt dogs and gave the Jays all they wanted in their house. We just have to keep growing at this point. We could still be counted before this season ends.

I think Lavin was talking about a place to eat during the time out, I've seen pelicans with smaller gullets.

McD is a lock when wide open...too bad we don't have anyone who is automatic when open...with a shooter we win...

The charge on Jordan was an abomination. That little white boy flopped at the end of it. I hope he watches that tomorrow and goes home knowing he is not a respectable human being.

At the end of the day we were somewhat robbed but that's not why I'm crestfallen. We needed this W.

McDermott is a stud who dropped 36 on you. Not to mention he's the coaches son! We should've given him the Seth curry double face guard at the end there. Instead Lavin puts his big man on him to shadow a perennial inside-out threat full-court. That is unacceptable and thus he embarrases us to the tune of 39 little daggers.

All season long I can't help but feel game-after-game that this team still has a lot of talent. Talent that is irrevocably being wasted.

Now Lavin thinks the team will be ready by April, maybe May.

This just in.......

The NCAA Selection Committee just announced that any team with less then three wins in their conference will be considered for the dance, as long as their coach declared February 1st or later as their "Gel" date.

This was great news! I propose that next year (when the group is playing together for the fourth year) we should wait until March to "gel".

Bingo! Obekpa was caught ball watching; reacted a half second too late; and, went under. He's not used to being in that position, and I was wondering where was Pointer. That was it!

Dang! I felt we were about to steal one.

Love the fight, disappointed by the result. Wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have so much ground to make up.

And man, you guys really will blame Lavin for anything. It's one thing to be critical, I do it too but its another to b*tch and complain about everything the man does

Gutty performance. Nice to see we had enough in us to come back from 18 down in the 2nd half. That kid McDermott can seriously score. He has a well rounded offensive game. If he was just at 80%, we win... I like how aggressive Rysheed has become. That offensive foul at the end was BS. McDermott hooked Obekpa right before that and it wasn't called. We're running out of time to build an NCAA or even NIT resume.

I just think that its so damned instinctual, to position yourself in the middle to help out. Of course it's a huge mistake when guarding a guy like McDermott.

The offensive foul on Jordan was huge. Just watching the motion, I was sure they had called a foul and the basket was good.

Huge comeback, and if we were 6-1 coming into this game we'd be praising our guys right now even as we lament a tough loss.

I still don't get the "we'll gel by February" Lavin comment.

What does that mean? What do all those offseason practices and meetings mean? What did that trip to Europe mean?

Why are we the only team in the country where the team doesn't gel until February?

Credit to the coaches and team for hanging in and being competitive, more than I thought would happen. BUT, how frustrating is it to make a great comeback only to have a boneheaded coaching move and an inexplicable lack of focus and intensity give McDermott a wide open 3. I cannot believe the staff put Obekpa on McDermott on the last possession. A player not used to the perimeter, whose instincts are to leave his man to help and block shots, which is exactly what happened. Compounding that bonehead mistake, Harrison WATCHING the play as his man picks Obekpa, not even a thought to help and check McDermott, a great player who was lighting it up all night. Absolutely inexplicable to me on both. One last point, I thought Sampson played excellent D on McDermott despite his great night but quick shots and too much one on one on offense almost right from the start just killed us. Credit for the defensive game plan and the committment to D by the team but in the end they just showed they can play tough against a good team and lose, which we already knew from Wisconsin and Syracuse. Very, very disappointing.

How could we not stay right on him

Watched the replay 10 times, Obekpa picked off but Harrison was 5 ft away and didn't even make a move toward dougie. He was way off the screener should have moved out and let the other guy try and beat us.
