UNC- ASH

St. John's is very poorly coached. To blow a 17 point lead against this team is inexcusable.

This is pretty accurate. Merry Christmas...not spending the night on my computer. Terrible loss. They better carry this unbelievably crappy loss on their shoulder all year.

I hope UNC-Ashville doesnt get invited to play in our new conference. Damn this is like the fordham loss a couple of years ago.

UNC Asheville's first win against a Big East opponent. What a disgrace! I know that UNC Asheville is agood team but SJU had a double digit lead in the secon half. How do you give up 46 points in the paint? This team needs Gift. I'm not saying that he's an All American type player but they need his tough interior defense, his rebounding and intensity.

Lavin and the staff have to take the hit for this game. They were up 15 early in the second half. Since then their offensive sets have been horrible also UNC Asheville has 44 points in the paint for the game so far. They miss another inside presence. Gift should have never been redshirted.

No the coaches do not play. Players win and lose. This team does not play together, does not play especially hard or smart and got what they deserve.

IMO, they are far too inconsistent when it comes to playing as a cohesive unit, and they rarely play smart. Our opposition have wide open looks to the hoop (whether, it's a jumper or going to the basket for a layup). I've said a couple times before that I thought this team, as a collective unit, has a low basketball IQ.

Additionally, this team is still feeling the effects of its brilliant prior coach, who ensured that his successor would need to start over again with a completely new team in his second season.

That being said, the current staff needs to do a better job.

This game was over 5 minutes ago

Even though it was tied a minute ago? Right.

Yes, this game was slipping away little by little since the 16 minute mark of the second half. You could feel it. It was just one of those games.

You're kidding me, right? The program is in year three under Lavin and they've lost against San Francisco and UNC Asheville

And let's not kid ourselves ... they are going to be blasted in Big East play

I just saw the score, I was thinking it was a mistake until I logged onto this site and started reading this thread. And here I was complaining that both Niagara (against Notre Dame) and Fordham (vs UConn) were both on TV tonight and yet not St. John's. Thank God we weren't on TV, maybe with the holidays, & the Knicks also losing no one will know about this loss (well we can hope)

IMO, they have two crappy losses.... San Fran and UNC-Asheville. Tonight's loss is much worse due to us blowing a 17-point lead. You do not blow a 17-point lead, AT HOME, versus a team of Asheville's caliber. Inexcusable.

It's time to activate God's gift. Lavin tried to roll the dice with Sanchez and it came up craps. All the athleticism, length and speed is worthless if the team can't rebound, box out and defend.

This team is in its second year. Remember, everyone graduated at once due to Norm's recruiting prowess. So Lavin had to start from the ground up in year two. This team is still very young, but the coaching staff needs to do a much better job.

I cant see this team finishing with a winning record this season. Almost no team in Big East that is a sure victory for us this year.

Really missing dunlap

I love it how when an "inferior" team goes on a scoring run, we just sit back and don't call any timeouts as if we're just some elite team that can turn it on & off with just a flip of the switch.

Out coached, lazy effort defensively, poor defensive fundamentals (3 guys going up to block a shot), the floor general is parked on the bench for some odd reason, the list goes on and on.

There's going to be some big blowouts coming our way during Big East play. Get your emotions in check because it's coming.

A coach needs to be able to stop the bleeding, especially at home against an inferior(theoretically) opponent. As someone else said, inexcusable.

When we tied it, there was a sliver of hope, no?

Yes, there was but this team just looked lost at the end. They just slowly lost control of this game in the second half. Even tied I didn't have a good feeling.

Once again, they've lost to San Francisco and UNC Asheville

Are you kidding me?

What happened to all of this so-called elite talent? They were out scored 44-28 in the paint. And let's not forget they blew a 17 point lead in the second half

This is the exact reason fans don't even bother showing up anymore. If you can't beat the cupcakes on your schedule, why are people going to waste time and money to watch a losing product?
