How many times is Obekpa going to let a guard rip the ball from behind? He is too lazy going after the ball. They showed Lavin in a TO on TV after that and he was clearly on Obekpa about securing the ball and chinng the ball with elbows out to secure. Hopefully it sets in.
Branch tried to make a spin move in the second half in traffic and threw the ball out of bounds, Lavin sat him for the rest of the game. Garrett tried to force things on the offensive end with an out of control play and Lavin sat him. Difference is Amir got back in the game. Guess Lavin still doesn't have the same confidence level with Jamal. But I agree, Jamal should have gotten another look.
Branch should have played more. With branch I think we probably would have won. Branch is simply a better pg than Phil. Phil wasn't doing anything in there. He's an east-west player. Branch was in there for only a few minutes but slashes to the hole well, and can dish the rock. I'd like to see Branch get a lot more time.
I just can't understand why Lavin continues to start Greene at PG
That's not even a knock on Greene. I think he could be a very valuable wing player for us. But he's just not a PG and the longer Lavin continues to throw him out there, the more this team is going to lose.

everything ive read about last night is valid! yes branch should have played more in the 2nd half, obepka cant shoot, lavin may not be the best in game coach in america but they are fun to watch!! the only thing that really really worries me is that we played sooo much better last year with 5 kids!!! now we have depth and we are so out of whack!!

Yeah, the guy who went to the NBA. Last year, we had 2 consistent scoring options. This year, every opposing coach's game plan is to keep the ball out of DLo's hands as much as possible and make him work for his shot. We need a 2nd and 3rd option. Jakarr is too inconsistent at this point. I think Branch would help everyone else become a better scorer and Phil would be much more effective off the ball.

The theme of this thread is becoming clear- Branch needs more playing time. It seems so obvious when he is out there how much more under control things are in the half court. Unless his eye was bothering him there is no excuse for only 8 minutes. He sees the floor infinitely better than PGIV (who deserves playing time, but not at the 1!) Lavin and Co. have to adjust their rotation and get Branch in the game more.
not playing Branch did not make us lose the game. I cant believe how unathletic he is especially on defense. Our transition D hurt us in the second half and our last two possesions were awful. Harrison was having a field day driving and dishing and he pulls up for a 25 footer when we needed a two. and why was sampson bringing the ball up the court the last poss and why in the heck did he dribble to the sideline. 6 seconds he can easily go rim to rim with a change of direction.
