The good is we won by20 points
and we won on the road. The negative is we will not shoot 3 s consistently as well , we gave up 75 points to a poor or inexperienced team and our 2 returning bigs , other than Simas free throw shooting , certainly have not shown improvement. That is not a long term winning formula. In order for us to come close to 15 wins this season Sima and Yakwe have to improve on last years rebounding and scoring numbers. Since we don't have superstars at this point in time we need a better team effort from a group of the 8 whose name is not Marcus, Shamorie or Bashir.
I don't think Sima has regressed as much as not given 100% of his ability. He is a very docile big man who plays like the kid he is. Yakwe on the other hand has been, imo, the big Achilles heal. If Owens, at 6'11 were 20 pounds heavier he would be getting most of his minutes. He blocks just as well but is much more aggressive in rebounding and attacking the hoop. With Marvin Clark coming I'm not sure if he will be top 7 in next year's rotation. Of course he is well behind the learning curve and may be a terrific 6th man as a senior. Like Sima, he is too docile and young at this stage.
