@Tulane, Fri. Dec. 2, 8pm, ESPNEWS/970AM

Score please for those of us at our office Christmas Party.
Merci.
Coach Mullin was subbed at halftime for Norm and all of a sudden Maher woke up from a beer coma to lay on the scorers desk.

Nice win against a terrible team
This style of play will not bode well in Big East play
Our bigs are too soft - we need an inside banger - can't wait for Brown to arrive
Yakwe has regressed on the offensive end - he looks lost on that side of the floor
Ahmed has played well but needs to add an inside component to his game
Contrary to reports, Ellison is not our most improved player - Mussini is
Amar still can't guard anybody; Where is RF's shot? Left it overseas?
Again, I am happy with the win and don't mean to be a Debbie Downer
Just looking at things realistically - gonna be very tough for us in league play again

Finally saw a division 1 team that plays worse defense than us. Also coached by a NBA veteran. I enjoyed the win, but when the Big East season begins, Mullin will have to play about an 8 man rotation and have either Ponds or Lovett on the court, and preferably both, nearly every minute. Just can't let Freud and Ali see too much floor time unless their decision making and play improves.

The ball movement is a very good sign.
Even on nights when we don't shoot this well, moving the ball well can keep us in the game.

Plus, if the bigs ever learn to catch and finish, the ball movement will give us some easy scores.

Defense, especially transition D, is still very much a concern. I liked that we took a few charges though. That's a step in the right direction.

A very good win against a team with a front line as offensively challenged as ours. Yakwe has been a big disappointment thus far playing less aggressive and dragging his feet. A future David Russell or Willie Glass will be a big stretch but unless he learns some offensive moves he may be relegated to a backup roll by next season.

Love what Owens gave us tonight. Now we need Yakwe to start finishing around the rim.

Owens was able to fight their center, Smith, for position while Sima allowed him to receive the pass in low.
Loved our passing and movement.
Was wondering when Holifield was going to get in this blowout.
Shooting threes was out of sight.
Still need to improve their transition defense.
Surprised and concerned once the announcers mentioned Tulane's fine efforts against Missouri and other decent competition.
Good road win.

Their center, Smith, had a career high in scoring tonight
Don't let the blocks fool you - our interior defense is horrible
Most teams in the BE will kill us with their inside game
Again, great to see a win but can't get too excited beating Tulane
They looked like us one year ago

Comparisons to DR or WG were grossly unfair to the kid to begin with. The kid was and is extremely raw. Would have expected some improvement this year, but certainly not to the level some on here were expecting. He's a freak athlete with tweener size and zero offensive skills. He will likely never be a 3, and is going to have to develop some really good skills to even contribute as a 4. I would say that his lack of improvement is somewhat disappointing, but not overwhelming surprising.

We're this shooting clips on Freudenberg doctored? Kidding
His confidence has got to be in the toilet

Doesn't show me he has a shooting touch. Still rooting for this young man. Got some boards tonight along with some good passes.

Also not at all impressed with his stroke. Not sure that is fixable. Not bailing on the kid yet, but not convinced that he's a high D1 level ballplayer.

Monte - all fair points about Yakwe
But, to me, he looked better on offense last year than this year
Not improving is one thing - regressing is another
That's on him and the coaching staff
Lack of player development can only hurt future recruiting
The staff needs to do a better job with Yakwe and Sima in particular
These guys were expected to be major contributors and haven't been to date this year

He may be raw but can he please practice layups. How many did he miss tonight, no excuse as far as I am concerned.

Yakwe needs more than layup practice.... I'm thinking a sports psychologist.... Sima can sit at the other end of the couch.

It's almost a waste of a pass when they give it to Yakwe when he's closer to FT line. Like hot potato, all he does is pass it right back out like he wants no part of it.

I hope he turns it around, because right now he's playing lost.

Agree that he looked better offensively last year. He had some pretty big games, but then he also had some games were he was non-existent. Posters tend to pin their hopes and expectations on the flashes of brilliance, which is certainly not unusual. Frankly I see Sima as more of a disappointment. He actually looked much better early last year than he did when he returned from his injury, and so far this year. Both kids would have been well served as back ups to veteran players. We have no such luxury unfortunately.
