Trimble

Early in the year I assumed Trimble would transfer because he was in way over his head but he has settled in nicely and has been a positive contributor lately. If he can shed some weight and become a competent defender we may have something there. Not sure if anyone knows this but he actually leads the nation in turnover %. With the guys coming in next year I wonder if he would be willing to redshirt and get into shape.

The staff loves his athleticism, and even at his weight, say he can jump through the roof. They are well aware of the shape he is in, and considering that Mullin even makes his coaches work out a couple of hours before each game, there are no shortage of guys anxious to work Trimble into shape this summer.

If this guy sheds 30 pounds, watch out. I wouldn't bet against it.

Redshirt? He decommitted from FlSt to play more, not less!:)

Staff was pleased to get him late in process, likes his shooting ability and playing under control. Next step spelled out to him is obvious; lose weight and get in better game shape. We'll see if he wants to pay the price.

nutrisystem lol (I just started to augment my daily workouts - wasn't able to lose weight with exercise alone - and I exercise a lot!)

glad Trimble is here - hope he wants to be here - we don't need players who are "doing us a favor" or are looking elsewhere from the get go

thanks Mr. P for all of your contributions.

i liked his stroke early on. Seemed to fall off though later in the preseason but after being forced into action with Lovett out he has played admirably and seems to have some confidence back.

I don't think his stroke was ever bad, just hit a little shooting slump in December.

Actually, if the Lovett injury did wonders for one of our players, it was probably Trimble. Now, he's not getting pulled the instant that he makes a mistake. That has led to increased confidence from him, IMO.

Trimble should be a solid 4 year contributor for us. URI is currently very successful (# 22) with 5 of their top 7 players guards/wings 6'5" or under - no reason we can't be that way next year especially with one of our 5 guys currently 4th in BE in rebounding. I see us playing three guards an awful lot next year with Ahmed gone. Good thing is we'll have three legitimate bigs (Owens, Keita & Brooks) to complement the guards.
After going through a year with no bench, will be great to have a deep one next year!

Trimble is a nice player. We need him to stick around. What posters forget about, is players like
him really help as juniors. That has been one of our many short comings, we need our freshman to stay and develop as upperclassman. He does look like he shook of his jitters is more comfortable.

I've always liked this kid. Recently he has started to drive to the basket and even stopped for a pull up jumper, also like his shooting form.

Didn't see game yet but he had a bad stat line tonight-19 min and only dented the scorecard with a turnover and a foul. Zeros across the board in the positive columns. Still shows promise of a good 4 year player especially if he could convert a few lbs. to TO.

I hope BT sticks around because I think he's going to be a very good 4 year player. Has the skills, just needs experience and to work on his conditioning a little bit.

was just a body out there last night.

Plus he had a turnover late in the game when he tried a behind-the-back dribble in front of the bench when X hemmed him against the sideline.

I agree Trimble should stick around . But, 30 lbs is a lotto lose . Wonder why he didn’t over the off season , coming in to decommit from FL State ? Just an aside , to answer all the jokers on here who torched Mussini for his 2 Years here.. He was a better shooter than Trimble , great free throw shooter , able to distribute the ball and , was actually quicker than Trimble . But , many here would never give him a prop for his play . If we had him this year , we win half of the games lost ! And , don’t lose his 12. -14 points a game he would have delivered with Lovett minutes . I will say this , I like Clark and Simon but , I and many on here thought they were going to bring more than they have , considering the hype some posters bestowed on them . Clark had a big game last night . Simon played the role of the invisible man . While they both have some nice abilities , they have some short comings too . Would either start on Villanova , Xavier, Creighton , Seton Hall ? Maybe not , even Butler or Providence . And , please don’t throw their Stats up there if you disagree . Both , have had Games where they have essentially contributed nothing . And , fell short at Crunch time . I think they will do better next year but, both need to work on their weaknesses .

I don’t understand posts like this. Of course Simon and Clark have shortcomings. They would both be playing for top 25 Arizona and MSU if they had less shortcomings. With that being said, yes they would start on most BE teams. If not starting they would play 20+ mins on every BE team. I actually think they have lived up to their hype, it not overachieved a little bit. Clark is our best 3pt shooter and Simon is a great defender to go along with a great rebounder for a guard.

Simon too one dimensional. He is another player we could recruit over, not saying he does not need to be on the team but 10-15mins pg once a better shooter emerges

Simon's averaging 11 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals a game and shooting 40 percent from three. What one dimension is he from, the fourth?

Simon is a rock solid point guard on a talented team. His shooting % from 3 isn't bad, andlast week he almost single handedly won the game against Creighton with Ponds on the bench. He has filled a score sheet with rebounds, assists and points many games this year. He is a legitimate triple double threat.

Fans at MSU lamented Clark leaving. He got solid minutes and likely would have been a starter or 6th man by his senior year. Definitely was a fan favorite there, and Izzo doesn't hand out the type of minutes Clark received to no talents.
