@VerbalCommits: VCU F Terry Larrier is leaving the program. (HT @JonRothstein)http://t.co/JzjdsP6jUk

Need to jump all over this kid.

I like Larrier, BUT he has to sit out a year and we have lots of targets for the 16' class. I'm not sure he's a "must get" at this point. Malik Ellison might be our Terry Larrier.

We will likely have 4-5 ships for '16.
I'd rather get a kid on board now practicing then waiting around all year until next spring for a kid to pop.
Heron and Larrier would be a helluva start to 16 before summer begins.

Agree. Right now there's 7 ships left for class of 16. There's gonna be at least 5 when all is said and done. Would Larrier be as good as the 5th best player they sign next year? You can bet your sweet bippy he would.

What is a sweet bippy exactly?

I dunno. His shooting percentages were dismal this year, and that's with almost 20 minutes per game. This is the Mullin era. I want wings that can shoot. I don't see it getting exponentially better like Postell's did because that's a rare thing.

This guy had some pretty dismal %'s year 1.

Lone Star bound?

One would think

Wouldn't they restrict him going right back to Shaka?

One would think B)

It reflects poorly on an AD to block a kid outside the conference. When rumors were going around that Buffalo AD was going block Shannon Evans to ASU, he took a 24 hour beating before giving his blanket release.

That is correct with Buffalo but wasn't there more to it? The kid asked to meet and the AD said no or something?

Most schools don't allow current players to join coaches though. It's more common than not.

Yes, but that was Buffalo to Pac 12. I think it should still be the same a10 to b12 but it would be iteresting to hear the VCU perspective on it.

Does anyone know if Fordham restricted Paschall from coming here? I know they did it previously with Jio Fontan.

Apparently Durand is recruiting Eli Carter to come here as they were friends from Brewster. I'd love Carter at SG for a year. Back 3 of jordan, Carter and Johnson? Pretty dang tough.

It would have been messed up in the Buffalo case, because those kids signed exclusively to play with Hurley. Evans was the highest recruit the school ever had and didn't even know Buffalo was D-1 when Hurley first called.

No PGs or northerners. ;)

Larrier can shoot. His %s will reflect sooner rather than later. Very good player. He'd be a nice addition, but certainly not a must get.

Eli carter had a rough year. The entire Florida Gators roster had a terrible year, with the exception of Frazier. I'm just not a fan of carter. If he was immediately eligible I would take him. Otherwise I would pass. If Donovan leaves it will be a feeding frenzy on the gators roster! Frazier would be the most sought after because he was the best 3pt shooter I watched last year.

He is immediately eligible.

Carter still averaged double digits for an sec team. Double digits vs UK twice, 23 vs Miss. State. Etc. he's a volume scorer, but is best available and immediately eligible. Players like Carter offer instant scoring, and bridge the gap next season where we barely had a roster a month ago. People should welcome a double digit scorer like Carter with open arms. In addition he's a near 80% FT shooter. Kid can score, even if he's a bit of a gunner. I'd take him asap.

Mullin us using the right strategy and not willfully tanking next season in the name of rebuilding. Grab best immediately available players, and add a few that are being groomed like Ellison, Sima, Williams, Owens etc. zero harm. Bring in kids that ae ready to win right away. They graduate next season and we fill in with studs in 16' class. Great strategy imo.
