the key being that he has significant ACC experience and can play immediately. Williams looks good but he's coming in as a JUCO. It may take him some time. Other than that we have Amar for this season filling that space on the roster.

Makes sense as a small forward. Still need guards.

I just don't think he'd help us. A kid that has already missed most of the past 2 years and would have to sit out another.

I doubt with the scholarship numbers that we have strong interest. Just my opinion.

yes he is expected to graduate and be immediately eligible.

We could potentially start him at 2 guard if we don't get Sampson or play him at small forward and Williams at power forward or off the bench.

The guy can play and could help us a lot. Look at the schools that are after him. We need 2 more wing scorers badly for next season.

@JonRothstein: Greg McDermott is using transfers to build Creighton in the Big East. Maurice Watson (BU), Cole Huff (Nevada), and now Marcus Foster (K St).

We can do the same!

How many high majors have won with this strategy? Picking up one here and there works but relying on it seems like a bad recipe.

Thanks. He is a decent player that could handle point guard duties. Shot over 40% from three, led VT in scoring, and is eligible next year. I am surprised it's been so quite.

True but I don't remember there ever being this many transfers. The grad transfer is the equivalent of a 1 and done with little risk since you know you are getting a player who will contribute. I don't think we can rely on it more than to supplement our roster and fill holes but it definitely can help us remain competitive this year and speed up the rebuild after Sheed and Obekpa leave.
