Transfers SJU May Get Involved With

Coming off back-to-back NCAA's, I don't see Willard forcing out his assistants again for players. Grant B was apparently the point person on Sando M, who they just got, and Sha and Hill aren't going anywhere.

FYI I heard SHU might be after Rice also. Their asst contracts end july. Only this holding them back is no president at the moment.

Yeah, Rice to SHU doesn't make much sense. Holloway has turned down head coaching jobs (low major) to stay with the Hall. Billmeier has to be cheap as cheaps and the thought of trading on recycled Rutgers guy for another doesn't seem to make sense.

Kameron Rooks

Graduate Transfer

7'0" 270 lbs.

Not extremely productive, but would definitely be huge for us.

I think rooks would be a fine addition as a grad transfer center. He's big, mobile, and doesn't pretend to be a wing player as a center. We have lots of talent at our other roster spots. We also have Owens. One grad big like Rooks would definitely fill a need for us for one season, as a true center. He also wasn't unproductive. He just shared a lot of minutes. He was quite decent in the 17 minutes per game he put in.

Maybe our west coast staff and Justin Simon will pay off here but IMHO tough sell for this kid.

Agree but is Paultz posting pix to be hopeful or is there already some contact being made.

He's a good defender if the knee is OK. He'd get the minutes here for sure. We have nice pieces to move around him already in place. Can do twin towers with Owens or some combo of Clark, Ahmed, and Simon next to him. Don't know if Mullin and Richmond knew dad, but they both were involved in trade rumors with Lakers at points in their careers where Sean Rooks was to be going to Golden State and Sacramento, respectively.

Being hopeful, refusing to believe SJU only adds Kante. :)

Refusing to believe Mitch Richmond is not the point person for this guy. IF Kante commits and he Kant play center Kan we reverse Matt's raise?

Quick someone tell me who Jeff Beverly is, also what conference UT-SA is in!

football player with some bulk. 6'6" 250lb. I like the sound of that but according to this article Iowa St is his first choice. ZB says he visits Monday May 8

STATS:

Jeff Borzello @jeffborzello
Visits for UT-San Antonio grad transfer Jeff Beverly:
• Iowa State: May 3
• Loyola Marymount: May 5
• St. John's: May 8

For those that missed the last 87 pages, it can be summed up as follows: "SJU signs another undersized but talented guard (who must sit out a year), but so far whiffed on everyone else". Keep swinging, and we are bound to hit something.

The inference from the article is that Iowa St. has not yet offered. Can't fault the staff for trying, but this smacks a bit of desperation. Kid wasn't even on scholarship last year.

I wouldn't be opposed to the Rooks kid. While not a big scorer the rebounding numbers aren't bad when you factor in he played 17 mpg

went to hs about 1/2 hour from Simon. played w/ NBA caliber kids at Cal. no better opportunity for him at a high major in terms of coming in getting minutes and being surrounded by great players, if he is thinking NBA. If he can catch the ball from Ponds, Lovett and Simon he should come to NY ;)
