We just disagree, Pikiell knew nothing of the sort; he recruited a very impressive class and you don’t work as hard as he and his staff did to get that recruiting class with an it “could could fall apart quickly” mindset.
As for NIL changing everything, that was the point of my post you responded to.
Finally, I guess SJU should have the same mind set since they have been mediocre to bad certainly for a long enough time to be comparable to Rutgers. As for RU in the Big 10, they have been competitive to successful in pretty much every sport but football, which of course is THE benchmark.
Rutgers and UCONN belong in the same Conference . 2 Eastern Public Schools reliant on the Tax Payers . Let them figure out where they belong and other Public Universities to add .

Temple , VCU , James Madison , George Mason , Memphis , Maryland - Eastern Shore . Old Dominion .

Those are my suggestions .

Personally nothing against Pikiell. Just fans here who were drooling from the mouth at what he’s accomplished and prematurely at that. The bar was set very low at Rutgers. But at the end of the day he’s only won 20 games once there. And in the last 4 years he’s ‘just 6 games over 500’ in B10 play. I’m pretty sure with records like that here fans would be throwing pitchforks. (Refer to Steve Lavin record)

Not to mention he goes counter productive soft route on OOC scheduling.

All good Logen. I dislike Rutgers because (just like UConn) because they were/are state schools in a predominantly small private school conference. Pikiell (and whoever the coach is) will have guilt by association as far as I am concerned.

Their state tax dollars were built in advantages other schools in the BE did not have. I am not going to be remotely upset if they are falling behind in the NIL race.
It is all good, no problem.

Understood, but Rutgers was a black hole before he got there and he built a culture there and has had them in the national spotlight multiple times (beating teams ranked in the top 5) and playing meaningful basketball every March now. Far from perfect sure, but hard to imagine many guys outperforming his results there given the state of that program not that long ago.

Also yeah his overall record is meh but we would have killed for 3 straight NCAA Tournament caliber teams the past 4 years

I bet with all the kids leaving if limps to win 18-20 this year the Rutgers faithful will start calling for his head

Rutgers and UCONN belong in the same Conference .

It is unlikely that Rutgers and UConn end up in the same conference.

There is no reason why the B1G wants UConn as a member because it will not generate sufficient revenue to cover its share, and it has a lousy football program.

The reported reason Rutgers was admitted to the B1G is because Rutgers finagled to have the B1G Network included in most/ all of the basic cable plans in New Jersey thereby making Rutgers a financial win for the B1G.

It is more likely that UConn ends up with the ACC leftovers if the football schools in the ACC split. UConn has more in common with Syracuse, BC, Wale, Georgia Tech, Putts, Duke, and Louisville than with B12 schools: Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas TCUc Texas Tech, and others.

Maryland Eastern Shore? For what?

I think Jones is talented, as evidenced by the programs kicking the tires on him. Thought he would have flourished under Pitino, similar to Russ Smith.

Russ Smith was 6’0 scoring PG. I don’t see the similarity.

Jones could be a decent 10 minute reserve on a good team with a coach that reins in his perimeter game and forces him to hit the glass.

Alleyne completely shut him down during the MSG game when they were matched up. He only scored 3 pts after he hit a trey when a blocked shot deflected right to him and Alleyne was helping in the lane. Alleyne kept him off the glass too when they were matched up. I don’t think a wild SF who can’t shoot would work with Pitino. Jones never shot 30% from three. AJ Storr was 10x the player Jones was IMO.

A possible 3-21 record . You know , like G’Town has been in the BE the last few years . A league always needs a patsy . It didn’t have to be Maryland - Eastern Shore but , that’s what came into my mind .

It could have been Robert Morris or , anyone of a countless number of other teams . It’s all fantasy anyway .

Who would you choose ?

It’s fantasy , Otis . Not likely in reality .

If Storr had the rebounding and aggressive chops that Jones had, he’d be an all American.

I think Jones and Storr have similar seasons next year. Not sure he's 10X the player.

Are we talking Big East here? If so I’d never welcome a team anywhere near that caliber. I don’t think a league needs perennial doormats. Every program should offer something to the conference.

Storr and Jones are different types of Players . I don’t see them as comparable .

I wasn’t a Jones fan . I remember the 7-23 game all too well . And , I’m not sure I buy into the idea of having Pitino Coach him would have helped him .

By this time in his BB Career , he is what he is and not likely to change . Good Luck to him as he continues his BB Journey .
