Should we be classified as mid-major due to our years of irrelevance?

Then some teams from the Power 5 should leave their respective conference and form a new mid-major conference. St.John's and DePaul could join Clemson, Boston College, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, USC, Auburn, Texas Tech, TCU, etc. from the "major" conferences that have been doormats and dormant the past 10 years.

I'm not ready to give in just yet. I'd give it one more coach.
If he's not the one then I guess we should be considered a mid major.

As of right now our last ncaa win was 15 years ago. If the next coach isn't the one then it will be 20+ years.

Yeah, I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets hope Lavin can get in, and while in get that first ncaa win in 15 freaking years.

Even if no NCAA tournament? If they extend him for another NIT run, then that would confirm that they are ok to settle for mid major status. I won't care so much next year then.

Would I be happy? No, but SJU would be telling us that the NIT is good, so gotta roll with it I guess.
But then, why remain a die hard, if the school doesn't really give a shit.

Just be a fan and be ok with mid major status, if that's the route that they want to go.

It's really a stupid conversation. SJU is NOT dropping out of the Big East to go to a mid major conference, like the MAAC. There's way too much TV money in the Big East, and the whole notion is absurd.

Orlando Antigua!!!! ??? NJIT ??? Come on guys, the team has 18 wins with 4 games left before the BE tourney. We ARE going to the dance. Stop killing Lav already or least wait until the season is over! Its ridiculous that we are in a push for the NCAAs and all "some" of you do is talk about a different coach. Like some miracle worker will come in and make us undefeated. Be realistic, wait until the season is at least over before casting judgement! Geesh!!!

I made the OA comment months ago. So you can clam down chief.
Very very few people are talking about other coaches in the midst of our end of season push.
We're all talking about the Xavier game and how many wins we need.

I never said that they'd leave the B.E., but high major team change coaches if all the time the current coach goes to the NIT. That's why I said that if Lavin doesn't make the NCAA and still extend him, then maybe they should be considered a mid major team.

Because we still have a lot of work to do to secure an NCAA bid, before things get crazy on here (as they do after every loss), I want to separate guys like you, Avon and Johnnyfan from the guys who only post here significantly to flame the board when the team loses. Even Oldschoolredmen is a fan, though he occasionally goes off when we lose. You guys are great fans and only want the team to win, even though you favor a change.
