Tim Cluess Out
Wow, that's so profound. I thought it worked that way.

No, most on this board are more rational and knowledgeable than the ones making the decisions. Cluess has been for several decades a perennial runner up, so it is not like he is an obscure or random choice. And, he has the support of a large part of the fandom as well as a very large part of the NYC basketball community.

So, you know...
I know this board loves Tim, but in life just because you really want things doesn’t me your entitled to them. Cluess didn’t even get an interview, he was never a candidate. If there is something to get mad at it’s that Zach, Zags, and Mike built him up like the second coming. If that didn’t happen a random low D-I coaching saying I’m withdrawing from consideration would just be comical.

No worries dude, I'm glad I could let's you know that is indeed not how it works.

Here is an example for clarity. I was in a really good high school band. And I really love rock and roll. And I'll be goddamned if I didn't grow up less than 25 minutes away from Madison Square Garden. Heck, it's my dream job to be a rockstar and shred some faces with my sick guitar chops.

Even though I totally killed it at a lower level and i really really really wanna be a rock and roll star and I'm SUPER LOCAL, it doesn't mean the Foo Fighters have to hire mean as their lead guitarist.

You see, both parties, the employer and employee have to agree.

And now you know how it works.

What if the 50 biggest foo fighter fans from your hometown think you would be great if only the foo fighters would give you a chance.

PS Foo Fighters suck. ;)

Yea, and he never coached at this level before, and never won an NCAA game, and is old as shit, and crusty personality and teams don't play defense, and he loses a full 30% of this games, and he lives too close to campus, and he's never been offered a big time job, and he and Looie have a feud.
Is it a feud if one party isn't participating?
No. Either both parties have to be participating, or both parties have to not be participating. In this case it is the latter, thus a feud.

Highly doubt any SJU higher ups are reading this, but if so, swallow your pride and offer Cluess. If not, the next few years will be Hell for you and the entire fan base. 90% of us were okay with Mullin getting hired, and the same would be true for Cluess. For any of these other candidates, the inverse will occur. I am getting so tired of looking up Wikipedia pages for various coaches I've never heard of, only to be more pissed off the more I learn of them.

We all have visions of winning the B.E. and a deep NCAA run. And it may happen but it will be a fluke. The ship has sailed on any domination or high relevance. I obviously agree, biting the bullet on a new conference although frowned upon could help. However, could down grading even weaken our recruiting power further. I believe it will. Changing based on current players coaches etc is one thing. But dropping down makes StJ an even more difficult recruiting spot. And likely weakens our options
Don't know what the answer is just wish we could get back where we were. Battling for conf Championship and NCAA seeding

Moving to a mid major is so not happening that it's not worth even contemplating.

Nor should it be considered. Far better to be a medium sized fish in a bit pond. Big East is a great conference and we are part of the reason for that and will be moving forward from where Chris took us. All good things.
